We have just come home after a lovely weekend at the yurts, and I highly recommend it. Upon arrival, we met the fabulous Mrs Mills herself who was friendly and very welcoming and took us for a complete tour of the grounds before settling us in with tea and cake, what more could you ask for?||Our yurt was clean and fully stocked with everything you could possibly need for the duration of our stay. We stayed in Zelda, which has the hot tub, and we really enjoyed not only the tub itself but also stoking the fire and the open air cooking facilities. The decor is authentic and our bed was so soft and cosy, we particularly loved being able to see the stars as we laid in bed. Other members of our group stayed in Gatsby and Tanaduke, which were just as fabulous.||The washroom facilities are kept really clean and easily accessible, just like the kitchen that we often found the most delicious cakes in to help ourselves to! ||I had huge reservations about glamping personally, but being there really feels homely and less roughing it than I had imagined initially. Mrs Mills does everything to make your stay as memorable as possible, with no detail spared, from the vintage feel in all areas right down to various options to purchase any extras that you may have forgotten during your stay. ||As for the surrounding areas, there is so much on offer for all ages, I can particularly recommend a walk up Mayhill to the summit , just don't do it during a thunderstorm like we did!||For animal lovers like myself you can visit the chickens, ducks and goats which are a super cute addition to to site, all of which are very friendly and as we took our dog with us it was really refreshing to be able to not only let him off lead but also watch as he played with the other dogs on site but also knowing this was a completely safe space for him to roam.||Overall if you love camping and glamping, this is the place for you. My only advice would be take some extra camping lanterns or lights so you can really light up your space in the evening, on a clear night you wouldn't need them but on a more overcast evening we found it really dark and a few more lights would ha ejust...
Read moreWe had a fantastic stay at Mrs Mills' Yurts! Nicola is such a warm and welcoming host. After a long journey she had our Yurt all setup with the fire burning away and the hot tub ready to jump in! She even provided a delicious cocktail to start our evening well. Nicola had thought of everything to ensure our stay was as relaxed and comforting as can be. The Yurt was equipped with everything we needed from candles, lanterns, pots, pans, utensils, glasses, hot water bottles and plenty of blankets for us to keep warm in the cold winter weather. The communal kitchen area was perfect with plenty of space to store and prep food. There was everything from coffee, tea, hot chocolate, sugar and many other condiments to hand. Nicola also provided some lovely baked treats throughout our stay which were delicious and the fresh breakfast hamper delivered on the first morning was amazing. We were so impressed with the wood fired hot tub we didn't want to get out! Nicola provides plenty of logs to burn so you never worry about running out of wood for the fires. We had such a great time in our Yurt, a beautiful setting for a relaxed weekend away. We can't...
Read moreWe knew from looking at photos and reading previous reviews that Mrs Mills Yurts was going to be special, but our 4 days here have far surpassed our expectations.
The site itself is set in beautiful grounds, the yurts are comfortable and brilliantly equipped (we ended up leaving so much in the car as it was already provided) and the family owners are lovely. It was perfect for our 6 and 3 year old, with lovely safe grounds for them to run in, games to borrow from the snug, and a trampoline and climbing frame in the family's own garden which they are happy for them to play on.
Perfect for those who love being in the outdoors (there's a firepit for outdoor cooking and it's well equipped for alfresco dining) but also for those who wouldn't usually go for a camping trip (there's a separate shared kitchen and comfy extras like dressing gown and slippers). Added details such as freshly baked cakes delivered every afternoon, breakfast hamper on the first morning and a decanter of sherry left in the yurt really add to the experience. The wood-fired hot tub is fantastic.
We have already booked for next summer and can't...
