We stayed at the B&B for two nights, although we ended up arriving at the neighbors place due to a navigation error. Our host to be Scott was happy to help over the phone, giving us detailed directions on the phone to carry on further down the road. Once we had arrived through the door he welcomed us with smile and a great sense of humor. Leading on to a short tour of facilities and the our room.
The room was immaculate yet very homely. Every little detail in the room was thoughtfully picked out, from organic Scottish hand-wash to biscuits and a lovely selection of teas.
The breakfast was a fantastic selection home grown Scottish products such as fresh smoked salmon, Scottish made sausages and locally made fruit bread.
Our host gave us a fond farewell wishing us luck as we set off and ascended up to the summit of Ben Nevis, as the B&B is located directly at the foot of the mountain.
Both nights our host recommended we book ourselves in at the local restaurant next door (The Ben Nevis Inn). A great selection of delicious Scottish dishes that satisfied our hunger after a long day.
At the end of our stay it was sad to leave as our hosts were so welcoming making us feel like family.
Thank you again to Scott,...
Read moreLovely homey place to stay in Fort William at the base of Ben Nevis. Both Heather and Scott were really nice and welcoming. The B&B had hand sanitizer and masks at the entrance. Rachel was especially helpful giving us info about climbing Ben Nevis and provided a map for us. This is the perfect place to stay if you’re planning on climbing Ben Nevis. It took us about 9 1/2hrs to climb the mountain. We took a lot of breaks and was I'll prepared so I would recommend wearing hiking gear, take a water bottle (you can refill at the spring water fall along the way) and some snacks/sandwiches to eat. The B&B is a 5-10 min drive to the city centre with access to M&S, McDs and KFC as well as other eateries and shops. The only suggestion I would make for improvements would be to provide a more substantial breakfast given the price we paid for the room at 135£ per day. Apart from that a lovely stay with access to Ben Nevis Inn (can have lunch/dinner but highly recommend making a reservation as it tends to get booked), Ben Nevis, the Visitor Centre, mountains, hiking paths, ravine/river...
Read moreAchintee Farm Guest House. Don't book - even if you can! I attempted to make a booking for 3 rooms and was told we don't take groups. I began an explanation but was rudely cut-off being told 'It's not that sort of place'. Now if the discriminative woman had had the decency and respect to make further enquiries, she would have realised that in fact we weren't a group - let me explain - I am attending a wedding and the bride to be thought this would be a lovely place for me and my husband to stay as I expressed an interest in climbing The Ben whilst we were there. She said she had another couple of attendees who would like to do the same and would I also book their rooms. The 3 couples involved have never even met, let alone be classed as a group and we are all over 50 and very respectable to boot. So, may I suggest, in my opinion, the rude, uneducated and extremely discriminative woman, be reminded of the B&B case when the owners turned down a gay couple and I believe they lost when they were taken to court. You have been...
