This is the second time we have visited and loved it both times. |We were very fortunate with the weather and had glorious sunshine on both visits making the walk from the site to Seahouses and back via the farm track , village then the beach a joy. |The site is in a quiet location with views across the fields to beautiful sunsets. |The wood fired hot tub is amazing and it doesn’t take much to warm it up & keep it hot. The tent is well equipped and the bed is comfy. The tents are spaced well away from each other which offers great privacy to relax and enjoy the peace and quiet and amazing views .|The Eski cooler box is very good , our bag of ice stayed solid for the 3 day visit . |Camp kitchen is good if you want to cook a proper meal. |Toilets are great although the shower was freezing , I followed another person so assumed they’d used all the hot water ! |The log burner was needed on the evening to take the chill off the tent and was easy to use . |Very small suggestions for improvement would some different chairs would be good as the indoor ones are not comfy and the picnic bench is not conducive to reading & lounging watching the sun set & binoculars to get a better look at the views ! |Cameron is a great, friendly host. |Bamburgh is a lovely village we like to sit outside at the Victoria Hotel (which does amazing fish & chips) and watch the world go by. It’s a short walk down a very overgrown farm track to Bamburgh or you can walk down the road . |Everywhere is dog friendly and the beach is fantastic for dogs too. |Was surprised we managed to get a booking again as it’s such an amazing place . |Highly recommend for a relaxing but...
Read moreBamburgh under Canvas is a beautiful place to stay. It has almost everything you need for a perfect stay. The bell tents are well kitted out and decorated nicely. The log burner keeps the tent warm at night and I was surprised at how well the cool box worked - kept all our food/drink cold for the weekend. The views were gorgeous and the site was peaceful. As someone who likes clean facilities, the two shared toilets/WC were ideal. We would absolutely return.
The only reason I haven't awarded 5 out of 5 is this is a new site and there are still a few things that are being worked on. There is no plumbed in water suitable for drinking and so Campbell provides this in large containers, this had run out by the second morning and with the weather being as hot as it has, drinking water is essential. The showers do go from hot to cold regularly, but this is to be expected from an off grid site. We also weren't provided with the hand towels that are listed on the website. Finally, I personally feel that for an off grid site, more should be done for recycling purposes. Clearly labelled bins for waste, glass, plastic etc would help this.
Overall, a great stay and Campbell is working hard to make this a brilliant place for...
