This is our second stay at this park, and due to school holidays changing, unfortunately, we had to change our accommodation from a lakeside lodge to The Croft cottage, and we found this had an impact on the overall enjoyment of our holiday. First off, on arrival, we found the cottage to be completely off the park, and is very poorly signposted, and we ended up going down residential drive. As per the website, The Croft is said to be next to an active farm, so we at least expected to see farm animals of some sort, but instead, we were met with a derelict building, where people in vans kept coming and going with furniture, there was an eyesore of junk out the front and out the back, and, an inactive farm that looked like it was falling apart. For over £1000 a stay, this is not what we expected at all. On entering the property it seemed to be clean, but on closer inspection we saw that the place had a lot of cobwebs. We appreciate that there are spiders in these places, but the duster needed to be taken around. It was good there was TV's in each room, but the sofa's were terribly uncomfortable, and the log burner was full of half burned logs that hadn't been cleaned out. There were not enough matches provided either. The kitchen seemed to have all equipment that was needed, but the washing machine didn't work, so unfortunately, we couldn't wash anything. The bedrooms were large and airy, but the mattresses and pillows were very hard, and not pleasant to sleep on. We were happy to have a hot tub, but this didn't have any temperature setting, so we were only able to use it at that set temperature. Only two of the jets worked, too. Really, that hot tub looked very tired. Also, there is no privacy from Dower House. A window looks directly on to the hot tub, and there are big gaps in the fence where people might look, which isn't what one wants when trying to relax in the tub, or wanting a quiet coffee outside. In the main master bedroom, the blinds were thin, and needed upgrading as all night every night the security light went on and off, sometimes flickering, having an impact on how we slept. The shower in the master bedroom was hot and cold, every time we used it, not giving us a pleasant showering experience. Overall, Bassenthwaite lake is amazing, our favourite part of the lakes, and there are some stunning views, especially with Skiddaw and Dodd Wood on your doorstep, but unfortunately, this cottage wasn't up to standards.

Our stay at Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges was nothing short of delightful. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with a clean and well-presented cabin that immediately felt like a home away from home. The thoughtful touch of a bottle of prosecco waiting for us was a wonderful welcome gesture that set the tone for a relaxing stay. The kitchen in our cabin was spotless and perfectly functional, equipped with everything we needed to prepare our meals. It was a pleasure to cook in such a well-maintained space, and it made our stay even more convenient and enjoyable. One of the highlights of our visit was spending time on the deck. Sitting there, looking down to the lake and taking in the breathtaking view of the mountain, was a truly serene experience. The natural beauty of the surroundings provided a perfect backdrop for relaxation and unwinding. Additionally, we thoroughly enjoyed the lovely walk around Bassenthwaite Lake. The trail is well-maintained and offers stunning views of the water and the surrounding landscape. It was a great way to explore the area and soak in the tranquility of the lake. Overall, Bassenthwaite Lakeside Lodges exceeded our expectations. The combination of a clean, well-equipped cabin and the stunning natural setting made for an unforgettable stay. Whether you’re looking for a peaceful retreat or an opportunity to explore the great outdoors, this is the perfect destination.

Had a wonderful stay here at the quieter end of The Lake district but easily accessible roads to the hot spots and Keswick only 10 mins drive away. The site was not big but very peaceful. The lodge we stayed at was fully equipped and very clean. It had recently been up dated so we had a extra bedroom, shower and hot tub was a bonus.Lovely touches eg. Dog bowl, treats, towels and blanket, 2 pints of milk and a own label prosecco which l took home. They even give you dishwasher tablets and washing up liquid. Had a bbq on the terrace with the gas bbq provided. Superb views from patio and very secure for our 2 dogs. One being a mini dachshund, we was relieved he couldn't crawl under balcony. Pity the lake had green blue algae in cos of the hot dry spell so dogs missed out on swim but there is a nice jetty you can sit at to admire the views.Lots of paths leading to local walks. We only saw one staff at the beginning and at the end. She was very friendly. Definitely recommend and would like to come back. The lodge we stayed in was called Hawkshead.

This is maybe our 10th visit to a Hoseasons park. This is quite remote - maybe 2 miles down a narrow single track road. There are NO facilities on site - no shop, no bar, no restaurant. There are a lot of lodges and I get the feeling the majority are privately owned. Ours was nice - it was designed for 6 persons although we were only 2 with 2 dogs. ||The lodge has plenty room but in our opinion, basic. Some touches like table lamps and wall hangings would make it more homely - it felt “cold” and blunt. The lodge seriously lacks storage for food - for only 2 of us, we struggled. How 6 folk would manage is beyond me. Much more cupboard space is required - we ended up having to store food in a bedroom. ||It’s a comfy enough lodge and very quiet, however…………..||There are 2 maybe 3 properties adjacent to the park which are being renovated. This meant we were woke at 0700 every morning, Including weekend, to the sound of banging, sawing, cutting - you name it. This co ti he’d throughout each day until around 5pm. A real shame as you don’t get to enjoy the tranquil peace and quiet. They also light large fires daily - this resulted in ash landing all over our decking and the hot tub, which required us to wash this area down before use.||Staff - we only saw one member of staff on check in (even then, I had to wait 10 minutes, wander through into the staff area and shout to get her attention). Apart from that, we did t see any other members of staff all week. ||Dogs are welcome but the park seriously lacks bin, dog bins, and lighting at night. My wife didn’t go out after dark as she felt a bit frightened - more lights and better lights definitely required on the roadways. ||A good place to base yourself (15 minutes drive to Keswick) but we wouldn’t return here. It just didn’t feel...
