Bay Retreat Villas — Hotel in Great Britain

Simply because whoever sorted out things for people to stay didn’t quite get it right. Example One: As elderly people there was NO HAND RAIL to get into the bath to shower it was quite difficult helping each other in and out. Example Two: Washing Machine but nowhere to hang the Clothes at all. Example Three: TV in bedroom was a joke with that size screen you couldn't watch it and the lounge one was so far away we struggled to move the very heavy bed divan, when we did the floor was filthy obviously never ever cleaned and there were crumbs in the crease of the settee seat. Example Four: The worse thing of all was NO INSTRUCTIONS anywhere we rang the help line and after a long a lengthy call was able to put the top plate on otherwise we would have had no meal because there was no instructions we didn’t know how the DVD worked we tried in vain. Apart from all that the surroundings were pleasant enough but again we never went there to complain but every afternoon we had screaming children going back and forth on a flying fox. By then we had had enough so packed up and drove back to Suffolk. Very sad really it was a break we were looking forward too. Thank You Baz...

Such a disappointment after so looking forward to our stay.|We arrived in the evening so it wasn't until our first morning we started uncovering the sheer lack of cleanliness and hygiene in the property.|We immediately contacted someone who arrived promptly and simply said "yeah, I suppose I should have checked it but we're short staffed". |They offered to clean it but with this attitude we had little faith the property would be any better and it would have taken a full day to get it to an acceptable level.|We were contacted by the company who own the property (not Hoeseasons) who said they could try and find other accomodation but it was a bank holiday weekend and we had little faith it would be any better. Luckily we had a relative in the county, who took pity on us and let us stay with them for the remainder of the weekend.|To make it worse, despite providing evidence, we had to fight for a refund and still did not end up with a full refund.|Please avoid this property; such a huge disappointment. What should have been a relaxing weekend just caused so much stress and upset which then continued in the fight...

The villa was reasonable, in a decent location, only a 10 min drive from nearby beaches and Padstow. You need a car to get to these places as there are no footpaths/not suitable to walk to said locations. That being said, parking was quite impossible and very expensive wherever we visited nearby. St Merryn Park where the villa is located was pleasant, nice grounds and huge playing field set in the country side which was lovely. Good little shop on site too for essentials. However, we didn't really appreciate the dustbin lorry coming round at 4:30am which woke us up and then again the same day at 7am! The villa was OK; there were a few bits which required maintenance (cracked tiles, chipped laminate, scruffy furniture etc.) The televisions and wifi was quite poor, as was the bed, it was the smallest double bed ever, more like a single which made it quite uncomfortable. I noticed a few old cigarette butts in the outdoor area too which made things feel quite unhygienic. In general, I thought the villa was quite unclean as there were lots of hairs everywhere and the sofa had some things...
