Stayed here while cycling from Inverness to Glasgow. Although it was planned for 2 of us to be there only i made it from Fort Augustus - my riding companion threw the towel in and got a bus back to Glasgow. ||When i arrived i was very tired and just needed to get cleaned up. My only minor disappointment here was that the staff member was talking with guests in the dining room at the time and asked me to wait a moment - the conversation extended to plans and recommendations for the guests which in all honesty felt like an eternity having just cycled over 100km on my own! ||The member of staff then just shouted on Heather that "the cyclist is here"! Heather appeared promptly and speedy service was resumed. ||My companion booked this accommodation and it turned out to be a room with no en suite so i was sharing with other guests. Not my cuppa tea to be honest - i prefer my own facilities but beggars cant be choosers as they say. I just needed a shower and some food - I say this as i would not book again if the only room available was a shared bathroom no matter how good the guesthouse is. If like me you really need your own cleaning facilities then consider this before booking a room. ||Anyway - showered i was provided with a cold pasta/chicken dish which was an absolute feast. Heather was incredibly kind and professional - I even managed to get a few scoops of my favourite Mackie's ice cream which was like a little bowl of pure heaven. ||Top marks to the chef - never had a cold chicken pasta dish that came close to how good that was and as a deployment engineer ive worked all over the world - mostly in Europe so i know what a good pasta dish is. ||Next morning breakfast was provided from 7.30 and, for me anyway, the selection of fruit, cereal, toast and yogurt was top quality. I also had a bowl of porridge - proper scots oats as well - a real treat. ||Ed made me a sandwich for my remaining journey back to Glasgow and it was perfect. Simple cheese but every calorie was well used. ||This is a fantastic guest house and id stay here again in a heartbeat as long as i could get a room with an en suite. ||THANK YOU FOR YOUR HOSPITALITY AND KINDNESS - you provided an oasis of comfort and peace on my arduous cycle back to Glasgow||David (the one that made it...
Read moreMy mum and I did a 10 day walk across Scotland from Perth to Fort William, and this was our favourite place we stayed on our trip (and there was some stiff competition!) From the start Heather made us feel so welcome, and there were lots of special touches, like the couch in our room that gave the perfect view out to the mountains (I could sit there all day!), or the super comfy dressing gowns we were given to use since we didn’t have an ensuite. It felt like the luxury of a 5 star hotel, with the welcome of good friends. Heather gave us lots of tips of things to look out for on our walks which made them that much more enjoyable. The best thing about the guesthouse is the food. There isn’t anywhere else to eat in the area if you are walking, but that’s fine because the food is amazing. Again, it was the kind of food you would find in a highly rated restaurant, but with more vegetables (which I love). I couldn’t believe that Heather had never worked as a chef prior to running the bnb as the presentation and taste of the meals was superb. I’m already trying to figure out when my next visit to the...
Read moreI had high hopes for this guesthouse based on previous reviews and boy did they not disappoint! Heather and Ed were the most wonderful hosts, welcoming and warm and full of wonderful recommendations. We visited along with another couple whose trip to the Isle of Skye was cancelled due to bad weather. They were happy that it happened as they couldn’t have been more pleased with the stay. The rooms are enormous, clean, comfortable and nicely decorated. The location of the guesthouse is perfect. Close to Loch Rannoch with beautiful country views from the windows. Heather sent us on some gorgeous walks from their front door and my husband was thrilled to find a herd of Highland cows along the way.
Dinner was delicious and we started our evening with drinks in the cozy sitting room. Breakfast which is included was a hearty, Scottish breakfast with everything and anything you might want.
Our stay was the highlight of our 3 weeks in Scotland so far. Thank you Heather and Ed for such a warm welcome and wonderful accommodations! We loved...
