Stayed three nights whilst helping son to move into new house. The room was really big, lots of room for three, and clean. Beds comfortable and bedding crispy clean. The bathroom was enormous with bath and shower. The shower was amazing, water pressure really high with lots of hot water. Towels clean and fresh. We didn't use the kitchen or communal lounge but the kitchen lacked for nothing. In general it was a really good accommodation, I called it a posh hostel as there appeared to be a few hillwalkers staying there. Bit hard to find off the main road and you are put off by the No Entry signs you see on the gate above the directions in. These could be bigger. Highly recommended.

Don’t recommend this place at all. The place looked good initially but it had loads of problems.

First, the place is 2-3 villages far from the City Centre. One needs to take a bus and since the place is away from the centre, the buses are irregular and always gets cancelled. Same with cabs as well, so communication to and from the place is very difficult.

Secondly, due to it being in a secluded place, deliveries always gets cancelled and parcels do not get delivered.

Thirdly, the place had heating problems and there are moulds in the bathroom. There were also spider webs in the room and bathroom as well as spiders in the room. Although they claim that they will clean the room every fortnight but in reality that does not happen.

Fourthly, the agents were very harsh on us. They said that there were complaints against my room but they did not even say what complaints were there and who complained. One incident that i clearly remember was that one night one tenant came and said that the Indian food that I cook is smelly and the next day I was being asked to leave the place. So I assume that might be one of the complaints which is extremely pathetic. The agent gave me only a period of 10 days to vacate the place which I feel is not justified in a place like UK to find any other accommodation in...

Entry is by key from a secure box, the code for which is supplied on booking. The room was spotless as was the bathroom. There are shared kitchen and cooking facilities, as well as pool and football tables. A few minutes walk at the top of the lane there are frequent buses in to Durham City Centre. The last returns bus at 23.27. or a cab for about £12/15. A car parking space is allocated for each room. Browneys represents good value for money for visiting the area compared with staying in the city, we paid half the price quoted elsewhere. It is very strange seeing nobody from arrival to departure, but I would...
