We stayed in one of the cottage during the half term holidays in June. I was also taking part in the Big Bala Swim event during our stay and it is ideally located for the lake as it is just a short 10 minute drive away . ||Our hosts Steve and Gu greeted us warmly when we arrived and showed us the layout of the cottage where everything was. Including how to find things in the grounds and giving us information as to where our Labrador could be let off the lead and where she need to be on her lead in in the farm. The cottage itself was wonderfully clean with everything that you needed through the cottage. As someone who likes their morning cup of coffee I was pleasantly surprised by the both been cafetiere or coffee machine that I could use to have my daily fix. The kitchen included an array of gadgets such as a slow cooker which could be very useful for days out. There was a wide array of plates, glasses, mugs including stuff for picnic areas. I find this helpful as it meant I didn't need to constantly rewash every cup or glass in between use meaning I could relax. The living room was warm and cosy with blankets if you needed them as well as the comfortable three sofas meaning we could all stretch out watching television on an evening. Upstairs the bathroom and bedrooms where beautifully laid out with all items that you could need. The shower was lovely and powerful which helped us wake up after a peaceful nights sleep in a comfortable beds. As a contact lens where the thoughtful addition of a magnifying mirror was amazing. That is the tone of the whole cottage and experience that we had lots of thoughtful considered items in the accommodation, so it really did feel like a home from home.||The garden area at the rear of the cottage was were we could let our dog off the lead which she loved to explore. It also had everything you could need including picnic benches sun lounges. The view looking out over to the valley was amazing. We often would eat our breakfast in the garden during our stay as the weather was so warm and sunny meaning we could watch red kites circling in the thermals overhead and watch small songbirds flying between their nests it really was a connecting with nature moment every day.|We used the games room and this was one of the reasons we chose the cottages for the addition of this pool table, table tennis, dartboard. This kept our active sons more than amused with many tournaments being played. Again this was available free and gives a clear indication of how much thought has been given to this accommodation and what makes it so family friendly.|We also use the tennis court and whilst we will not be entering Wimbledon the court certainly was easy to get to. There is a barbecue and fire pit area to use this also shows the thoughtfulness and generosity of Steve and Gu as all the BBQ charcoal, wood for the fire pits is provided meaning it was just down to our own lack of skills that the sausages got burnt! We also hired the hot tub one night after I did my big Bella swim meaning my limbs could rest after my swim. The addition of towels for the hot tub was a thoughtful touch and a Bluetooth speaker meant I could sit back relax and enjoy the stunning scenery. |Our son’s took advantage of the access to the river for fishing, they enjoyed being able to stand in the river with their fishing rods trying to catch some of the local trout or salmon. |I would definitely recommend Bryn Melyn Cottage for families and people who enjoy the outdoors and have dogs. The stay for us was just the tonic that we just needed connect with nature, rest and relax which the nature of the cottages and the hosts made it a perfect place to...
Read moreWe’ve just returned from 3 nights at Bryn Melyn and had a fantastic time. We booked all 5 cottages for a family birthday celebration and were just delighted with the amount of space, facilities and the location. Each cottage is individual, very well-equipped and comfortable, but the real draw is the location. The views are stunning and the facilities such as the games room, BBQ area, walks and hottub just make this the ideal place to act as a base for visiting the area. Only 10 minutes by car from Bala, the newly-refurbished Bryntirion Inn is a few minutes away too. Sadly, we didn’t get to do any fishing this time but we hope to visit again and try our luck. With a party with ages ranging from one to seventy-five, it was a tough ask to find somewhere that suited everyone, but there are unanimous requests for a repeat trip. Finally, the owners Gu and Steve, were just marvellous, on hand to help without being intrusive and just kind and friendly. The farm is a true labour of love and it shows in the warm welcome and...
Read moreWe had a wonderful 2 nights at the property. The property had been cleaned and well heated before our arrival. The guests, Steve and Gulin, lived onsite and collecting was key extremely easy. The rooms are spacious and practical enough for our family of four. The property had many facilities, including a games room, a tennis court, a BBQ place, and walking path, which never made our stay bored. Reaching the property was easy and it is located in just 10 minutes from Bala lake, and 50 minutes to the Barmouth beach. The property has ample parking spaces as well. Molly, the residential cat, got friendly with us and she was so adorable. The hosts were wonderful human beings, communicated very well, greeted us warmly, and...
