Really enjoyed our 4 night camp with electric hook up and views onto the Isle of Mann. Just home today. The kids play park is great, free crazy golf, kids activities and the arcade were enjoyed. The arcade has a machine that let's you tap your card to get pound coins or 2p coins. We also enjoyed adults bingo and the kids let us catch a bit of the music entertainment.|I was hoping to go wild swimming but the coastline is too rocky. However the unheated outdoor pool and indoor spa pool with sauna was an amazing substitute available 0930-1630 and closed Tuesdays.| I did get my wild swim in Portpatrick harbour on a gorgeous sunny evening. Note Portpatrick have a rockin the port music event every Sunday 1-5pm in the summer (approx 1 hr drive and take the scenic coastal road as the A75 is no quicker) and boat trip to surrounding areas. |The site is large and some interesting historical out buildings and sculptures. Also two amazing walks straight from the site; 2.5 miles to St Ninian's cave or 3 miles to the isle of Whithorn which our 7 and 9 year old managed. Not much signal but actually that was a positive, free wifi available in the bar.| The staff were all so hard working and very friendly. I would disregard the negative reviews; everyone was courteous and they clearly take pride in the site.|Bought some lovely bargain plant in the Isle of Whithorn so check out the 'plants for sale' sign and take some pound coins. Wigtown (park with a view down from the church) & Stranarer (St John's castle, Agnew park & museum were highlights) were also fun.|I would advise taking bottled water as it is a private water supply so it is not clear and although it can boiled, no one wants constant boiling on holiday. On site shop also have reasonably priced water.|We did not eat on site but enjoyed the bar and watched some sporting events.|There are 4 electric hook up points per bollard, it was a little cramped on the Saturday we arrived but most people left on the Sunday. There were lots of electric points around the site so if this mattered you could perhaps request a quieter spot on booking.|Overall, highly...
Read moreStayed here for four nights and this was the best caravan site ever!!! First of all we got there and the people at the reception were amazing great customer service and they even gave the kids sweets. The bar was great and there was even a bingo game on and it was awesome the shower block and launderette were amazing and they were in such an old building. The rooms were amazing and did not disappoint . Water was dirty but you were pre warned that you had to boil it and the shop on the site sold so much water and all the necessary things. The arcade was brilliant very easy games!!! The soft play looked great for younger guests and there was a massive playground amazing for kids. There was a storm through the night and the WiFi went down but the staff got on it ASAP. The poop was gorgeous but cold and it is so refreshing on a warm day. There are amazing walks to the wickerman stumps and stunning views. There is a walk up to a monument through a cow field but they cows are hardly in it it's amazing. Were our caravan was it had a great hill and the kids loved it. It is very dog friendly we might take our pooches next time!!!
Rooms: amazing and big Activities: very kid friendly Pool and spa: the pool was great and very cold but warm under the sun
I absalutley loved this trip it was amazing deffonitley recconend and would stay there again. The caravans are very spacious and there are fences wrapping around the caravan and a gate so your dog can't escape. We'll behaved children can go to the arcade and the shop themselves it's awesome!!! I don't think I've used the word "awesome" so much in my entire life. This is absalutley amazing and the location is good. When we got there the GPS told us to go through this cow field but that isn't the only way you can go on a main road if you don't have the right type of car.
Overall the staff were amazing and did there best to provide us with all we needed so yeah lovely place and will deffonitley stay here again!!! Oh and it's...
Read moreLiked: The toilet and shower block were kept very clean. There are two plug sockets next to the hand dryer for your hairdryer etc. Having to shut the main door and keep the lights off meant creepy crawlies weren't in there. The views from the campsite were lush. There are a few Geocache's around if you're not a muggle. Liked the spread out pitches, no one was too close. The pitches aren't all level but as you have a lot of space you can put your tent/caravan in the direction you want. Nearest village is 2 miles down the road at Whithorn which has a lovely tea room serving breakfast & lunch and there is also a dog friendly pub. Newton Stewart is the nearest town about 30 minutes away. Pool area was open and not too busy. In busier times there is a prebookable one hour slot implemented to ensure all people can use the pool/jacuzzi etc. The lady in the reception was very friendly and welcoming. If you want remote and relaxing, this is the campsite for you. If you want to visit different areas, castles, beaches etc then it's about a 90 minute drive to any attractions. We drove to Cairnryan and got the StenaLine ferry to Belfast for the day. It was only £25 return each for a day trip. That was the best day of the holiday.
Disliked: The cafe food was very expensive for what you get. The WiFi signal was absolutely awful. I have read previous reviews and can see it should be getting better next month. Parents letting their young children scream on the playground until almost midnight each night. Dislike having to go up to the reception to get the wristband for swimming, it is a fair old trek from the campsite. Can the wristbands not be got from the lifeguard or shop? Would have been nice to be able to take the dog into the bar area of an...
