My husband and I visited Campsie Glen for a mid week break and we’re not disappointed. We have stayed with wood leisure on multiple occasions in the past at different venues, but this was our first visit to this site.

We stayed in a caravan with private hot tub, the caravan itself was beautiful, clean and in excellent condition, he only negative for us was the bed was small but I’m not a petite lady and need a bit more space for my larger derrière to flip over in my sleep (maybe a good time to check when weight watchers classes resume in my area? But I digress) meanwhile the hot tub was a little bit of heaven, cleaned and checked daily and even the flesh eating mozzies didn’t put us off! I swear those little beggars picked on me.

The site is extremely remote and approx 6 miles to the nearest shop, which suited us perfectly as it gave us an excuse to visit the local area and take a day trip into Stirling. I appreciate that this may not suit some visitors, but when you choose a park you must look at what is available before booking.

The amenities on site appeared clean and in good working order although we didn’t use the pool/park/game room/shower block etc. Unfortunately the Bistro was closed during our visit which we assumed was because it was out of season and only open at the weekends.

We also had our two beloved little Yorkies with us and immediately upon arriving at our caravan we realised that there was no hard boundary or gate, I went to reception to ask if anything could be done to allow us to use the hot tub without having to keep our dogs in the caravan. Within half an hour one of the maintenance team came with a makeshift gate. Result!! We walked the dogs along the dog route and used the agility field everyday, there are plenty poo bins around the site too! Photo of said Yorkies living their best life while we pruned ourselves in the hot tub.

The site overall was extremely well maintained by a wonderfully friendly and accommodating maintenance team (not to mention the lovely ladies at reception). Dave and Chris in particular need a mention as these two guys found themselves cornered by a rather chatty Scottish woman hanging about in her nightie with hair that looked like it had been combed with a banger while trying to clean a hot tub first thing in the morning. Points for bravery right there!!!

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return to this park in the future.

We have just got back from a week staying in a static caravan at Campsie Glen. Having travelled 500 miles to get there the helpful reception staff and a modern caravan were a very welcome sight! The park is lovely, very clean and well kept and we found all the staff to be very friendly and helpful. It struck as a locals site as everyone seemed to know each other and it had a nice feel to it. The views from the park are spectacular, and it is tucked away but only half an hour or so from Sterling. We ate in the bistro and the food was very good, pub style food at a reasonable price. Our young children especially liked the swimming pool, it's only small but adequate and the hot tub is nice for the adults. The caravan was well equipped, we did find a couple of cracked glasses and mugs in the cupboard and the oven baking trays were dirty when we arrived- it didn't bother us as we cleaned them, but just something to note for when the caravans are being checked for new guests. The only downside to our week was the noise on the park in the evenings (which is why I didn't give 5 stars). It's a family park that seems to come alive in the evening, unfortunately the caravans rented out through the site are next to the touring and tent fields. This meant that children were running around shouting and screaming until after dark most evenings (and parents shouting to find their children) I know it is the school holidays, and we have young children too- but when they go to bed it's nice to sit outside and enjoy the evening, which unfortunately we couldn't do because of the noise. It would have been nice to have the option of a caravan further away from the pitches and play area. If you are staying here I would recommend a visit to the Falkirk wheel, there's loads to do for the children and the boat trip through the wheel was good! All in all a good week away exploring...

Stayed at this site on Sat 28th May in one of their rental caravans. The caravan was lovely. 3 bedrooms, one double and two were twin single beds. It was clean, tidy and well fitted out with gas central heating, wall mounted tv and fireplace, DVD player, microwave etc. The site itself is in a beautifully picturesque setting and the weather was great which only helped make it all the better. Again the site was clean, tidy and well presented. There is a clubhouse that has a bar and bistro. An unsupervised outdoor swimming pool and a infant pool (the pool is enclosed from the elements by a dome type enclosure). The pool wasn't very large but fine for a dip or to keep the kids happy. There is also a games room, unfortunately it was out of order due to the door/door handle being broken. Through the window I could see a pool table, arcade machine, air hockey and a ride on machine for infants. There was also a river that runs through the site that someone said you can fish. We had a walk along the banks with the dog and found that they also had a fenced off/gated dog excersise area where you could let your dog off the lead for a run around and not worry about other dogs (or rabbits to chase). Very good idea I thought. There were a selection of other stay options on the site. Besides the caravans there were cabins with hot tubs, glamping pods and glamping domes. 7 of us had dinner in the bar and bistro and the meal was very good, good variety on the menu and reasonably well priced. They also had entertainment on at night, we didn't stay for this so can't comment Only thing I found that could be an issue was the fact that there is no onsite shop so you need to take everything with you that might need as it's a bit of a trek to the nearest shop. This was why I took a star off. All in all had a lovely time in a beautiful, relaxing setting and wouldn't...
