The University of Nottingham's Rambling and Hiking Club had a brilliant 3-night stay here in June 2025. We hired out both the chapel and the hideaway, and both areas were modern, spacious and well equipped, which suited our needs perfectly (given there were 19 of us all cooking and eating together). We enjoyed having the separate lounge spaces, which meant some of us could relax on the sofas and get away from the drama that was the pool matches in the games room!! The drying room was also very useful, given the sometimes unpredictable Welsh weather... The hostel is well located for hikes in the Eryri National Park, and it was particularly useful to be able to drive to Rhyd-Ddu, hike the incredible Nantlle ridge right back to the hostel. Organising and booking the hostel couldn't have been easier thanks to the hard work of Lou, who was always on hand to answer any questions we had prior to our stay. Meanwhile, John was great at showing us around the hostel as well as imparting some local knowledge regarding hiking routes that we should do. All 19 of us had a brilliant time at Capel Tanrallt, and we would most definitely stay...
Read moreVery remote location no facility near by host don't provide any basic things if needed to start the day as the nearest shop is 2.5 miles away with car 12 mt drive Initially friendly host beautiful location But be aware they charge 3 times for cleaning when we didn't use any cooking facility . just used for mostly for night stay Also they charge extra for electricity whatever they feel not agreed or checked the reading with the customer (as most of the holiday makers not aware of extra electricity charge mentioned in the small print) Its a big Dormitory/or hostel for people who want to cook and clean as cleaning to perfection is expected from the guest . Also need to be punctual to leave the premises on time otherwise they will charge extra The internet Wi- Fi TV TV and apps don’t work as very slow broad band we gave up to have to enjoy any...
Read moreSpent two nights here as a family of 7 adults and 2 children. It was exactly what we needed! 3 bedrooms downstairs along with 3 bathrooms. Two further bedrooms and another toilet upstairs - which was ideal for my mam who has mobility issues as it meant she didn’t have to go up and down the stairs to use the loo. Large living room and then another living space off a very generously sized kitchen!! It really accommodates well for a large group, even down to having plenty of plates and cutlery. The views are incredible and it was so peaceful. We managed to park 3 cars without issue. We loved the heater in the living room and the large window that we could open to look out. All communication with Jon and Louise was fantastic, Jon met us there to explain how a few things worked and answered the phone straight away when I couldn’t work out the hob! Definitely recommend to anyone considering staying here.
Thank you both for a...
