We are absolutely delighted with our stay here. The tents are spacious and comfortable, and the facilities just as advertised. The off-grid nature of the field is a blessing and we did not miss our devices at all. During the day the views are spectacular and the field offers plenty of space for family activities, while at night the sky is spectacular providing the clouds play ball. It's the little things that make a great difference, and there is no shortage of thoughtful touches. We enjoyed the cider on arrival and the coolbox for our own drinks, while in the evening we lit a fire and toasted marshmallows while stargazing. Solar-battery lights and lanterns complete the ambience, though plenty of tealights and holders are supplied too if you need the extra illumination. A word on campsite facilities: rather rustic in appearance, but spotless and in good working order. Having a fixed stove in a sheltered location in particular makes cooking a breeze, but a proper toilet and a frankly enormous showering enclosure are a plus as well. Lastly, a couple of observations: 1) the tents are not entirely free of insects, and we did evacuate several that we didn't like the look of, but if this is a concern then camping in general may not be for you. 2) the parking area is shaded and is approximately 100m to the farthest tent (much closer to the nearest). The walk is flat with no obstructions (a grassy field). I mention this because I have not seen an approximate distance...
Read moreWe hired the whole site for us and 12 friends, to celebrate my birthday over a weekend in June, Friday to Sunday. The communications with Hector in the run up were great and his dad Duncan was very helpful once we were on-site. The weather was ok, not too sunny but it was a lovely weekend of relaxation and games by day, party by night. We hired a small generator to play music and didn't have to worry about noise as there is no-one else within sight. We BBQ'd in the many fire pits, cooked and ate communally - there are plenty of cool boxes and freezer blocs; some pots and pans and other kitchen equipment (we could have done with a very big pot as warming up food for 14, the few pots and pans are generally medium sized). The site is the right mix of glamping and basic, so feels like a genuine camping weekend without the hassle of putting up your own tent. The tents are very thoughtfully kitted out; lanterns, fairy lights, warm duvets, plus lots more. There are plenty of picnic tables and chairs, crockery, cutlery, and much more. On the Saturday evening, we walked to the Horseshoe Inn for delicious snacks and lovely beers, then taxi'd back to camp (arranged in advance, unlikely to be possible at short notice) for a delicious catered meal care of Duncan's neighbour. We were very sad to leave - the pond and bird life, the quiet, the beautiful views across the fields, it really is a gorgeous place. We'll...
Read moreA lovely glamping site with just 6 tents/geodomes made it a nice quiet environment. We stayed in a Geodome which had ample space and was well equipped with everything we needed. The shower had miniature shampoo, conditioner, body wash and the toilet had soap and toilet roll included. The kitchen was also well stocked with a large number of pans, a gas stove and a sink with washing up liquid, cloths and tea towels. Just remember to bring your own cooking oil! I gave it three stars as there's very little to do around the surrounding area without driving miles down single track roads, inevitably getting stuck behind a tractor. There's one pub you can walk to but it is closed Monday and Tuesdays (the days we were there). It was also very hot, not the campsite's fault but there wasnt any shade apart from the kitchen area to take cover under. The campsite faces west so it was unbearable in the afternoon! One other small annoyance was the freezer for ice blocks was a short drive away up at the farmhouse (you could walk but would take you a long time), not making it easy to quickly...
