Having never had any experience of glamping and being of the older generation we decided to give things a go. Booking a 3 night stay so that we could have our 2 grandsons sharing a night each for a sleep over in the Hideaway pod. The customer service was second to none, helping us change our initial 2 nights to 3 and then to upgrade from a Cosy pod to the Hideaway was done with no issues at all. Receiving all the information of how to get to the site, how to access the car park and pod and things to do in the area was a great touch there are also instructions in a book in the pod. You also receive the breakfast menu for the Cafe next to the site which is not affiliated but gives a discount if you are staying on site was a welcome tip. Arriving without a hitch and OMG entering the pod certainly made us see we had made a good choice. The pod is exceptionally clean, having everything needed for a self catering break. Lovely and warm with its own radiator heating system, lovely bedroom with the best linen possible, sumptuous duvet and pillows and a TV in the room. The living area also has a TV and a dining table and chairs which was large enough for our needs and the boys plenty room to play. We didn’t think you could pack as much into the galley style kitchen, fridge with freezer compartment, dish washer, combined microwave/oven, hob with lovely Belfast sink and plenty of utensils for your needs. The shower room was bigger than we expected and well set out. Towels again lovely with bath sheets rather than the usual bath towels you get in most other places. Even the little touches of hand wash, shampoo and shower gel along with washing up liquid and dish washer tablets, starter satchets of coffee, tea, sugar and milk cartons were very welcome for a cuppa before we unpacked. The hideaway has a travel cot and a rail to hang clothes in the bedroom but bring a couple of hangers if you feel the need to hang clothes up. Black out shutters on the velux windows, blinds in the bedroom and lovely curtains at the main entrance. There is also a music system piped through the hideaway which we didn’t use but nice to know it’s there. The veranda is a good size and the views are outstanding and tranquil the site sitting high up. On our first night we saw a hot air balloon taking off lower down the hills and our grandson woke with horses in the next field. There is a tray to leave muddy shoes/boots on outside the door, after being out and about in the surrounding countryside where there is plenty it keeps the pod clean As there are only 10 pods on the site and a separate area for cars it seems to always be peaceful.

The additional yoga and play domes are a great addition and the children on the site took advantage of the toy dome. Our youngest grandson made some new friends 😍.

I would recommend anyone to have a break in the Country Clamping pods in the Bishop Auckland, our grandsons give the thumbs up as well

Thank you Lewis for putting up with us changing our minds and for showing me around the other pods, the differences they all have was good to see, however, all still to the same very high standard. Cannot wait to see any little extras that gets added in time and look forward to another visit regardless of the weather.

The attention to detail...

We had a fantastic stay at country glamping. We've never been glamping before but my daughter wanted to give it a go for her birthday treat. It was freezing outside but inside had been prepared and pre heated for our arrival, so it was lovely and warm. The radiators are very modern and easy to amend the temperature to your liking. My daughter was over the moon that the owners had gone that extra mile by decorating the pod for her birthday. The pod smelled beautiful, reminded me of a spa. Everywhere was absolutely spotless! ||The bed was very comfortable and the presentation was impressive. The sofa bed was easy to set up and put back away. When we arrived the place felt calm and peaceful. The pods are well spaced apart so they are private. The car park is directly next to the pods so there is only a short walk with your bags.

We were so impressed with the pod! It was freezing outside but inside had been prepared and pre heated for our arrival, so it was lovely and warm. *What a lovely place to stay* The accommodation is immaculate & of such a high standard. Beautifully appointed with a great kitchenette (that included the essentials ~ washing up liquid, sponge, kitchen towel, kitchen roll & bin bags. Tea, coffee, sugar & salt/pepper). Lovely shower room (with body wash & shampoo/shower gel if needed). A TV in both bedroom & living area. WiFi was excellent - no dropping off. Pod was extremely cosy which was brilliant as we were staying during some very windy & wet weather (radiators in living space & bedroom with a small towel rad in the shower room). Sofa bed was easy to set up & very comfortable. Bedding was lovely. Nice views from our pod. A very quiet setting (quiet in the pod even with wind & driving rain!). We stayed in Cosy Pod No8 Easy self check-in/check-out (details sent via WhatsApp was really convenient). Plenty of parking (in dedicated area accessed through barrier). Right next to The 68 Cafe which has an extensive breakfast & lunch menu. We can’t comment on the entertainment/chill out pod(s) as we didn’t have time during our stay to explore these. We only stayed for one night as an alternative to a hotel whilst visiting family nearby. We all loved it and will definitely be back! Much better & more fun than a hotel room with a young family. We throughly enjoyed our visit and have already recommended it to friends & family.
