I recently had the privilege of staying a night in the Carnegie suite at Cromlix Hotel. Which in case you did not know Tennis legend Andy Murray owns this hotel. Even when first arriving a member of staff was out and helped us in with our bags. Check-in was the same and given a tour to show where things are while a member of staff took our bags up to the room. The suite its self was like a small flat you have a Lounge which has a mirrored TV and a few armchairs and sofa with a writing desk overlooking forest area of the gardens. The bathroom has Jack and Jill sinks and shower and a gold plated bath which is deep and spacious. The bedroom has a dressing table and what I guess is a Super King size bed (Massive) Very comfy and luxurious. You do feel like a millionaire while you are staying there. We took advantage of going to the billiard room and had a game of snooker on their full-sized table (I won) We also had games of Chess and Connect four) they have other games available as well. Dining was spectacular we both had the valentines menu which started with canopies and then the menu consisted of Duck, Soup Roast Beef and a Souffle which was to die for. It was a choice a four options with a cheeseboard and a fish dish as the other two options. We also had a fantastic bottle of wine with tea. Breakfast was a full Scottish with your own choice of eggs, and you get a selection pastries with toast and jams. Breakfast was incredibly filling and satisfying. It may not look like lots of food, but for me, it was perfect. I would rather have a few spectacular things on the plate than lots of average things. You can see from the pictures what a lovely place that Cromlix is but what makes it a 10-star hotel in my books is the Staff from the moment you get in the car park to the moment you leave you're attended to this level of service is extraordinary. For example, when we were going to the billiard room we got asked if we would like drinks brought up and they were served with olives and crackers.
Defiantly worth a visit...
Read moreWe got married here in the summer and our stay was perfect. The hotel is so special with the unique little chapel, delicious food, stunning rooms, beautiful grounds and incredible staff. We had to move our wedding date due to covid and the team made this easy. Kerry was fabulous with our initial enquiry and answering all my many questions before we booked and helping to create the day we wanted. The team went out their way to ensure we we're able to include all the elements we wanted in our day. We had many visits to the hotel in the run up to the wedding and each time the food and service was always wonderful. On the actual weekend of the wedding - we could not have asked for more. Lauren went above and beyond what I would have expected - always thinking ahead of what might be needed for example - my lipstick in her pocket! My hairdresser left unexpectedly early and there was a struggle to get my veil in my hair - Lauren stepped in to keep things calm and got my veil sorted. Chef was great with a last minute menu change as I had developed a food intolerance and all the food was soo good. Every request and detail was noted and delivered perfectly on the day. All of our guests had a wonderful time and enjoyed their stay - the hotel is so special - in fact, we can't keep away, we have already been back for a meal, we are celebrating my Dads birthday there shortly and we can't wait to when we can go back and stay the night again, hopefully soon! A huge thank you to Kerry, Lauren, Caitlin and Charlie for their fantastic service and making our wedding incredible. There were many, many other amazing staff too whose names I unfortunately don't know. I just wish we could do...
Read moreWe brought our family to Cromlix ovrr xmas for coffee , very keen to show them Andy Murrays hotel (granddaughter is a very good tennis player and myself. .well I was one of the most promising juniors in Scotland and was coached by Donald Moss, the national coach for Scotland at that time.) We are all avid supporters of Andy. We ordered 5 coffees , one hot chocolate and 3 scones. We were advised that there were also complimentary mince pies. Fifteen minutes later 2 coffees appeared. It was quite some time before the rest turned up. Eventually the scones arrived. ..12 tiny little scones which were not cooked on the inside. The complimentary mince pies never arrived However the bill did....£60. We were astounded. We complained and our bill was reduced. The whole episode was extremely disappointing to say the least. We have friends who visit your place regularly and throughly recommended it. I must also add that it was also disappointing for a dog friendly hotel that there wasn't s place to bring our well behaved dog to be with us for a coffee. She had to remain in car in the cold. All in all extremely disappointing. I must add that I am so sorry I felt I had to write this...
