So I feel I need to write this review as I’m going to be honest reading some of previous and recent reviews we weren’t sure what we were letting ourselves in for. We’ve just had a lovely weekend at the Duck Pond. The hut is cute, cosy and it was clean for our visit and had everything we needed for a really comfortable stay. We opted for cheese and charcuterie box from Corbridge Larder and the breakfast hamper. All were delicious! Cooking tools all there to use.(frying pan under oven) The outside space is great - it’s so peaceful and watching all the birds flying by was great! The hot tub was lovely - takes a good couple hours to heat with a raging fire - keeping topping up logs. We used the outdoor bed to relax, have a drink and take in nature and brought some of our own blankets too for comfort. Cute little duck family kept paying us a visit! Inside was perfectly clean and yes there may be some wear and tear around but after all the visitors it is to be expected. Fridge seemed new and clean. The tv even though we only really switched it on for half hr after sitting out until dark worked fine for terrestrial but Disney did dip out ( we didn’t mind anyway as we didn’t go to watch tv in a place like that it’s about being outside or reading a good book) The pub a short work into the village ‘The Queens Head’ was lush. Great pie and burger and reasonable prices and we drank it down with some hawkstone beers! Really friendly would def recommend! We had a lovely weekend. The location and cosiness of the hut is perfect and close to villages around Northumberland. Do not be put off - we loved it and had no problems at all.

Booked for a Birthday but unfortunately we were really disappointed with the cleanliness of the Shepherds Hut and also some of the features as stated in the welcome guide/website not being available. The fridge and curtains were dirty (as pictured) on our arrival. Also, many of the trays in the fridge were broken and also the blinds were unattached/broken so unable to be rolled up. There was only one teaspoon provided which was really inconvenient and a large chip out of one of the two bowls available which needs to be replaced for hygiene reasons. There were no towels provided for the dogs (thankfully we brought our own) nor dog treats as described on the website. Also the hot tub had no jets/bubbles as described in the welcome guide. There were also no cushions available for the outdoor seats as pictured on the website. I would not describe the accommodation as dog friendly. With loose barbed wire by the gate entrance and a very small wall (easily jumped) onto the main road it’s really not a safe space for dogs. Honestly so disappointing as this really did not feel like ‘luxury’ as advertised nor reflective of the price we paid. We would not recommend this property to friends or family and really feel that the changes need to be made to both the cleaning of the property and the information provided on the website / welcome guide. I emailed the hosts to discuss the above and was told I would receive a phone call. That phone call never came and now I am unable to email them as my emails are bouncing back. Such a shame as it’s situated in such a lovely place but absolutely not worth the money.

Shepards hut: Could be the perfect location for a decompress from a busy lifestyle. The sound of the lake and the cows in the close by field, you could be anywhere. Great potential but sadly poor execution & its certainly in need of a refresh.. feels like it’s been given up on, we have sadly just left a night early. Seating area: this was just unacceptable, two wooden egg chairs with a few small cushions on each. Incredibly uncomfortable and considering this is the only seating area to enjoy your stay, not enjoyable in the slightest. This was our biggest factor to leave to go home early as we had nowhere to sit apart from the step. Little touches: We got the crumbs of the last stay left over in the dog treat bowl, not replenished for us. Tv: No digital/live tv, only Netflix. Kettle / light bulbs: Either didn’t work at all or extreme wear and tear. Tea / coffee: Dirty cups and a coffee machine with no pods provided. It’s the little touches that make all the difference, such a shame at the price and potential it has. Contacted the owner on two different platforms to advise we were leaving early, didn’t even get an acknowledgement.

Always wanted to stay here and always wanted to go to the duck pond but it’s always been booked when we’ve wanted to go. So booked the shepherds hut instead.

We did have a nice stay and the location is peaceful but in all honesty I don’t think it was worth the money. It is very small and cosy but there was quite a lot of cobwebs. It didn’t bother us to much but for the price I wouldn’t expect this.

The fairy lights outside didn’t work so it was extremely dark at night which wasn’t a problem if you had the fire going but again with the price you do expect the little touches. There was also no cushions for the wooden seats outside like pictured on the website so it wasn’t the comfiest and again we did expect this. There was some random cushions scattered outside on the floor and under the caravan but not for the seats.

We didn’t realise there wasn’t an oven so had bought food which was our own fault. We were happy when we saw a hot plate but when plugged in it tripped the whole electric and couldn’t use this. We did ring the owners who apologised and had to turn the electric back on. There was an air fryer there but it was dirty inside.

We did find it extremely hard to get the hot tub going and ran out of the blocks to get the fire going. Again we did ring the owners who did bring us some down a couple hours later. We did eventually get it going after this so we’re pleased we got to use it and it did get very hot.

The toilet roll holder seems like it’s going to come off which again isn’t really much of a problem but for the price you don’t expect this.

It was lovely and warm inside and the bed was really comfortable. There is also a tv which has Netflix etc which was helpful as having two dogs and not being able to leave them anywhere kept us entertained. There is also some board games as well.

They also have a long lead to attach the dogs to which was very handy.

All in all we did have a nice stay but we were really disappointed with a few things as we don’t get away much and it was a treat for us. I would still love to go to the duck pond but just worried it would be similar and don’t want to be disappointed again but may look to book.

I did find it hard to get a reply after booking from owners but when we were there and we had rang when needed help they did...
