I booked Saddlebank A for myself, my two grown up daughters and my three young grandchildren for a two night stay.|Upon arrival at the lodge, we were initially delighted, lovely large cabin with what appeared to be a safe outside space for the grandchildren. |Once settled that was when we started to find issues, no welcome pack, no tea towels or anything to clean pots or wipe round. We had seen in reviews that there was a lovely welcome pack in a cabin so presumed that they all had them! All internal towels were meant to be included so we again presumed that included a tea towel!|The two bedrooms were very small but adequate and comfortable, poor choice in cooking utensils and very sharp knives stored in a low draw, not ideal when you have a 1 year old that loves to open draws.|So that evening, myself and my eldest daughter went to get into the hot tub, as she stepped to the side of the steps on the decking, this broke causing her leg to fall through the hole, this went to just passed her knee. I immediately called the emergency mobile number provided in the book, this went to voicemail. I left a message expecting a call back. When 30 minutes had gone by and still no response I called another number that we had found. The guy that answered said he had received my message and was just leaving an event and would be with us in around 15 minutes. When he arrived he inspected the damage and asked what we wanted him to do!! He was unable to repair it that night but could do so the following morning. I wasn’t happy with that as the whole hot tub was sitting on the rotting boards and I was concerned that the whole thing might go through. During the conversation he was starting to get rude and he commented ‘I have changed my plans to come here’ at that I told him that we would be going home the following morning and I wanted a full refund for the stay. |So the following morning we were getting ready to leave, we loaded the dishwasher and as we closed the door, all the kickboards just fell off, I did try to advise them when we left but there was nobody in reception.|Nobody came to the cabin that morning to ensure my daughter was okay.|Needless to say we would not return to these cabins were safety is not in my opinion their number one priority, That could quite easily have been one of my grandchildren that...
Read moreWe stayed in a saddleback (lodge 11) and everything was as described and as pictured. Plenty of space, high ceilings, large dining room table, super king master and a double and twin for our children. Comfortable beds and fluffy towels. We appreciated the size of the hot tub and the robes/slippers for getting in and out. The welcome pack with washing up liquid etc, as well as tea coffee hot chocolate and milk etc was much appreciated. The shampoo/shower gel/hand soap was also a lovely fragrance and there was plenty (not miniatures). We always take fans with us for uk breaks so we slept comfortably. ||The children enjoyed the on site park (they said 5/5) which was much better than many other places we’ve stayed. The sun room (open all the time) had a huge selection of dvds and games to borrow. There was also lavazza coffee and a vending machine inc are you wanted a little treat in the evening. The owners were extremely friendly and welcoming… the sort of people who really care about their guests and maintain hi gf standards whilst also running a farm (we enjoyed watching what was going on in the fields)!||The setting is isolated but the village is very close with a spar for any necessities and we ate at The Station Hotel (as was recommended at check in) which was lovely. We also ate at The Crown and Anchor near Spurn for their Sunday cavery which was also yummy (and huge).||Withernsea and Spurn point were close by to the lodges, with Hornsea a little further. There are plenty of bits to do in each place to keep busy though we were lucky with the weather. ||We had a wonderful time in Withernsea walking along the front and enjoying the Blue Light Weekend (which we were told about upon check in so thank you!).|We also drove one hour to Bridlington for the Animal Park because the children really wanted to see Cabybaras and they...
Read moreGroup of four, stayed 3rd to 6th December 2021.
Spacious, well maintained, warm, modern cabins. WiFi was good enough to run an Alexa speaker and Google TV dongle. Hot tub was private, hot, clean. Location stones throw from Tesco, Aldi, etc.
What would have made a this a 10 rather than an 8 ?
-Only two dressing gowns and slippers for a party of 4.
-No iron or hairdryer.
-Given one bin and bag for a 3 night stay so had to put rubbish in carriers next to bin. Takes away from luxury /premium feel. Could get some wheelie bins for the outside?
-Christmas decorations for Xmas stays ? 3rd may be early for home but not (opinion only) for a December getaway.
-Odour of the main bathroom on day 1
-The check in and out times were a tad unreasonable (in at 5 and out at 9) We were aware of this when booking but didn't want to spend more/pay for add-on.
That's it. If we didn't like to try somewhere new every holiday we would deffo stay again and because it was a very short stay we didn't raise any of these as complaints. I'm sure if we did that the friendly onsite man would have helped.
Should trial converting one cabin to extra luxury and having a much larger TV or projector with surround sound, built in ceiling speakers, larger fridges , dishwashers, coffee machine, usb wall sockets, log fire/burner. Sure people would pay any extra...
