Disgusting! Initially told check in is 2-9pm. We had a day out with family who were staying elsewhere, had planned to all return here for dinner. Receive a phone call at 5pm to say they were closing as Monday is their only day off. I said ok, but how did i check in? Was told to call a number on arrival. Arrived at 6:30pm, went to the pool as was the only thing we could see open. Asked if we could swim, he said yes, no problem, open until 9pm. Called a number to be let in to our room. Was taken to our room and unsurprisingly he handed the keys before quickly disappearing. The room was awful. Tired, dirty, the temperatures of a sauna and my daughter refused to use the bathroom due to how dirty it was. There were no curtains to block light from the window opposite the bed, and the door struggled to close. Stayed there 2 minutes and went back to the pool. A different staff member this time who said that we couldn’t swim as after 5pm you need to be 16, my daughter is 13, the pool was empty and there was just absolutely no need for this. He said she can swim in the morning, then he grabbed a timetable and said “oh no, actually, we have a booking, so you cant swim on your stay”|We went back to our family who were staying elsewhere, desperately trying to find me and my daughter somewhere else to stay, but we couldn’t find anywhere available. This left us no choice but to return to the hotel to collect our belongings and drive long into the night to return home. We just couldn’t stay in this room. We arrived home at 2am, our family now enjoying a day together with us unable to be involved. Incredibly...
Read moreunfortunately we did not stay to eat. I rung up and booked a table to be told on the phone that there was no steak or gammon (the day before Easter Sunday). I said it was OK as we probably would not eat steak or gammon anyway. We got there and were told we could not sit in the bar area even though tables were available. We had to sit in what was like a corridor area that was very cold.... alone !! We were then told there was no steak and gammon which we already knew but now no chicken either. And there was also no salad dishes on the menu at all. We were very limited to choice. After looking at the menu that we could hardly read as there was hardly any light, we went to the bar to order as no one came to the table to take our order and no one told us on arrival that we had to order at the bar. No communication! We said "ok we would like to order" and before we could say our order, the man at the bar said "oh.........., its going to take a long time, we have 4 other tables waiting and only one chef" We asked how long and he said , he does not know, could be 45-60 minutes. So we left. It really is a shame as we stay regularly in the area and next time I came to the Bridlington area I wanted to try the rooms at Ferns Farm but after this experience , no thank you. How can you run out of food the day before a Bank Holiday weekend, the day before Easter?. I could understand this more if we had come after the bank holiday weekend and they had had a rush on and completely sold out. Shame. I know Ferns Farm from the past and it was once good, not any more it seems. (certainly not from our...
Read moreOn first look this place is tired. Room spacious but poorly laid out, an extractor fan right outside the window drowned out the tv unless you closed the window when the sound was just muffled. The fan started a full volume at 0700 do you won’t need an alarm if you have room 2. The bathroom again spacious but no hooks to had clothes or towel. No shelving for wash bags etc. The toilet wouldn’t flush and it took half an hour to get the mechanism free on the shower to divert the water from the tap to the shower head. The shower head itself could do with a limescale treatment which it clearly hasn’t had in a few years. The breakfast wow the very bare basic no sign of cereal, and instant coffee. A pretty much one of everything fair sausage, bacon, egg, hash brown, small spoon of beans and likewise of tomato. Assuming it was the landlord serving he was amenable not quite dressed for the part. The price for two rooms, one night (me, wife, daughter and our granddaughter) was in my view daylight robbery so much soo my wife was embarrassed to tell me. In short I wouldn’t recommend unless you’re desperate if so sleep in your car. We came down last minute to see my wife’s two parents both extremely poorly, if it hadn’t been for her not wanting me to make a scene I would have properly kicked off. This hotel is in a sorry state,...
