I don’t know guys, everything is functional and it’s great you can buy free range eggs from the owner. Yet, everything seems to be also in a state which is already quite used up, furniture is dusty, older, the kitchen feels and looks greasy. There was a paper left after a snack bar underneath our bed in our room so hard to say how thorough the cleaning is after each visitor. The common area (kitchen) could seriously use some upgrade/renovation, same for the bunking or private room and then I can imagine the prices could go up 15-25%. The way the things are now - I wouldn’t come back. Great bonus - there’s a cat 🐈‍⬛

I stayed here 2 weeks ago with my dad and 2 brothers in one of the 4 person bunkbed rooms. The beds are comfortable and the shower is perfect after a long hike. The communal kitchen and dining room works well. Plenty of space to cook, and play a game in the evening. There is also plenty of outside seating to relax after hiking. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. We had a brilliant couple of nights here. We will be back for more hiking!!

I had booked the bunkhouse for 3 nights' stay while I climbed some mountains near Ullapool. I was shown into the bunk by the owner, who then left. I unpacked my gear and then decided to check out the rooms and facilities. To my disappointment, the showers were filthy. The screens were full of scum and the shower trays were both filthy. Hairs and black fungus around the edges. I then went to the communal kitchen area. When I opened the fridge, there was a terrible smell. Whilst there were some items still in the fridge, there were spillage stains on the shelves and dirty marks all over the storage areas. The drainage hole was filthy. I then went to the dry food storage boxes, which again were dirty and had a bad smell. The cooker could also have benefited with a good clean. I packed my gear back into my car and headed off. The owner was not available as I left. I would not recommend the Forest Way Bunkhouse as it was filthy and unhygienic. As a mountaineer, I have stayed in various places, both good and average, but the Forest Way Bunkhouse was very poor. Having subsequently contacted the owner, he denied that there was a problem and did not take my complaint seriously. I was lucky to get booked into the Ullapool Youth Hostel, which was...

This is such a good bunkhouse and run by a very helpful owner, Iain. It's in a very handy central location between the Torridon and Assynt mountains. The design has been well thought out and suits the outdoor enthusiast. I would describe it as very comfortable rather than luxurious, but it has all the essential facilities that you need, i.e hot showers, drying room, decent size bed room with bunk-beds and underbed lockable storage cages (bring your own padlock!). The toilet/shower is ensuite - so you don't have to traipse down a corridor in the middle of the night! The combined kitchen/lounge isn't huge but it has ample kitchen utensils/pans and plastic storage crates, and a big wooden table to sit round plus a comfy sofa and chair to put your feet up at the end of the day. There's underfloor heating too so it felt nicely warm. The price is very affordable and there is parking on site. Iain had some great tips about where to walk and variations on routes we were considering. Thank you for a fabulous stay and I'll...
