I pride myself on finding amazing places to stay when we go on holiday and I really nailed it this time with this gorgeous dog friendly lodge in South West Scotland 🛌🐶 The perfect place to explore Dumfries & Galloway, @Gatehouseluxury lodges have four modern lodges to choose from, each offering panoramic views and gorgeous interiors.   We spent a week in Silver Birch, their smallest dog friendly lodge. This one sleeps four and we had so much space. It had comfy beds, a bath (a must when you have a dog!) built in SONOS sound system and smart TVs.  The furnishings were beautiful, really comfy and the whole place felt so peaceful.   The views from the sofa were something else, with panormaic windows overlooking the Solway Firth we had red kites flying overhead and baby bunnies playing right outside our window - it felt like living in a wildlife hide, absolutely incredible. The lodge had all the mod cons including a washing machine, dishwasher, a massive fridge, coffee machine - we honestly wanted to move in. There was so much to do on the doorstep with beautiful towns, coastlines and forests to explore, but one of our favourite things, was that we could walk through the woods to the pretty village of Gatehouse of Fleet in around 30 minutes where there were some lovely pubs and tea rooms to enjoy - we even saw a red squirrel. If you're looking for a beautiful dog friendly stay in one of the most beautiful parts of Scotland save thisl

We have just returned from a fabulous week in Gatehouse of Fleet, staying at the dog-friendly Ocean Drive. The lodges are in a lovely setting on the hills just above GoF which gives them a stunning view over Fleet Bay. On approach to the property (up a winding road) we saw three Red Kites – and this was the lowest number of Kites that we saw each day of our stay. Watching the birds every morning and the sunset in the evenings was a joy – take your binoculars. The lodge itself is very modern and comfortable. The full length windows through the front (back?) of the property are what make the stunning views so easily accessible all day – and a bonus that the dog could sit in front of the windows all day watching the birds and the rabbits! Combined with the underfloor heating, I think this is what also helps to keep the lodges so warm and inviting after a long day of walking. We learnt to draw the blinds when we were out. The outdoor seating area is great for sitting out in the evening and watching the stars – you can see so many from this Dark Sky area. The seating may benefit from some comfy cushions for those of us with aching bones after a long walk. And it may be that there are some – we just didn’t find them, and it didn’t stop up from sitting outside every day. Gatehouse itself is accessible on foot after a 30 minute walk. There is plenty of walking available and lots to explore within a short drive. The local Spar shop stocks all the essentials and there is an abundance of coffee shops for anyone wanting coffee and a treat – all of which seem to accept dogs. In short, we had a fantastic stay at Ocean Drive and we are already looking forward to going back again in 2026. Thank you for welcoming us to Gatehouse of Fleet.

We have just returned from our second stay at Seascape, and we are already planning a third visit. *The* perfect place to explore Galloway, situated in the gorgeous village of Gatehouse of Fleet with unrivalled views of the Galloway hills and the beaches. We watched the sunset each night from the luxury of our warm and beautifully decorated lodge. The lodges are so spacious, so light and airy, and offer the highest in technology, including sonos speakers in the ceiling, to provide that extra special touch without providing a nuisance to any of the neighbours! The owners have thought of everything, including everything you need for a toddler and even, a bike and buggy shed on site. It truly feels like you are secluded when you are here. This time, we enjoyed exploring more of the beaches (Carrick Bay), Raiders Road and the Otter Pool, Kirroughtree Visitor Centre and the Loch walk and feeding the deer at Red Deer Lodge. However, sticking closer to the lodge, there is still so much to do and see including the pretty high street of Gatehouse of Fleet (Galloway Lodge has so many homemade and locally made goodies) with its various art shops, local park, the bluebells at Cally Woods and flying the kite in our own garden. It's truly a location that any age and demographic would benefit from a few days there!

Seascape, at Gatehouse Luxury Lodges is in an idyllic spot, with high end finishes, offering all of your home comforts and more. It provided us with a much needed safe haven, and respite from our busy lives.

The lodges are beautifully located just outside Gatehouse of Fleet, and offer a great base for exploring the breathtaking countryside, coastal towns and forests.

The view through the panoramic window on arrival was breathtaking. Views of the farm, Fleet Bay and the Solway Coast are framed like an artist's masterpiece. It's the kind of view that makes you want to stay forever, and sets the scene for the explorations to come.

The operation itself is efficient, with digital welcome packs, (some update may be required here as a few things were out of date) key safe entry and all of the operating instructions for the property. Donald is very helpful and available should the need arise.

It is apparent that a lot time, thought and love has gone into the design of the lodges, with much consideration given to accessibility - this is rare, and was one of the things that influenced our choice when booking and ultimately made our stay so much easier and more enjoyable. James very kindly purchased a shower seat for my daughter which was very much appreciated.

The accommodation is beautifully presented, spacious and comfortable, and has everything you need.

Seascape has very good accessibility overall allowing for a high level of independence for my daughter which made a huge difference to her.

A tiny note - the bathroom (by the front door with accessible shower) as a wheelchair user, accessing the bathroom and closing the door whilst navigating the bathroom cabinet may take a little practice, as the space is a little tight, but my daughter got the hang of it.

Some assistance will be needed to navigate the trim of the french doors to access the decking from inside the property, but once outside the decking offers a lovely space to sit and take in the stunning views.

The icing on the cake would have been to have more accessibility outside the property, to enable a little more independence to explore, get in and out of the car, and be able to access the garden independently. The path from the front of the property is not wide enough for a wheelchair chair, but you can access the garden via the lawn to the left or right of the property instead, but there is a step up to the decking from this direction.

I would definitely recommend bringing a robust power assist of some description, if you're intending to go on walks. We did manage to find a few wheelchair accessible routes a short car drive away, which would be a good inclusion for the welcome pack.

It was quite easily the most relaxed and enjoyable holiday we have had in a long time, and I would not hesitate to return to enjoy the breathtaking dark skies and have an opportunity to visit the beautiful countryside and walk along...
