A Gem of a Pub – A Must-Visit in Warminster! I’ve had the absolute pleasure of visiting The George Inn in Warminster recently, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best pub experiences I’ve had in a long time. From the moment you arrive, you’re welcomed by an amazing team – genuinely friendly, chatty, and always ready to go the extra mile to ensure your visit is exactly what you’d hope for. Whether you’re just popping in for a drink or sitting down for a meal, the hospitality is second to none. The food is of very high quality. It’s clear that a great deal of care and attention goes into every dish. The flavours are rich, hearty, and exactly what you’d expect from a well-run country pub – comforting and satisfying, but with a real sense of pride behind every plate. The surrounding grounds are ideal, especially for families. There’s a wonderfully thought-out garden space with football goals for both the little and big kids, a play area for the younger ones, and even an outdoor bar that’s perfect for soaking up the sun on a warm weekend afternoon. It’s also worth mentioning that The George Inn is dog-friendly, which is a huge plus. It’s lovely to see a venue that so warmly welcomes four-legged visitors too – perfect if you’re out walking and fancy a stop with your pup. My go-to spot during this visit was The Orangery – a beautifully lit, peaceful space that’s perfect for catching up with friends or even getting a bit of work done in a more relaxed setting. The Wi-Fi is excellent, which made it an ideal place for me to get some work done while enjoying a coffee and the calm surroundings. It’s a fantastic facility that adds real flexibility to the venue. There are three separate dining areas, each with their own atmosphere – ideal whether you’re after a quiet meal or a few drinks with friends. I’ve been told they get busy, especially at weekends, so it’s definitely worth booking ahead to secure your spot. The bar itself is spacious, well-stocked with a great range of beers and ales, and there are even a few stalls for those who prefer to perch close to the action. All in all, The George Inn offers a superb balance of warm service, quality food, great facilities, and a relaxed yet lively atmosphere. Whether you’re local or just passing through, it’s well worth a visit. I’ll most certainly be back again!

We have been here a few times, and it has been lovey, so we looked forward to coming today as a treat, but it was absolutely terrible! There wasn't one thing right with any meal. Firstly the starters: Fully loaded hashbrowns with added bacon. It came without the bacon and then after my partner mentioned this, they returned about 10 minutes later with a small bowl of bacon after he had finished his starter. So it was completely pointless. The next starter was the soup of the day, it was tomato soup and absolutely disgusting. Massively under seasoned with toasted stale baguette (not crusty bread as advertised) and no butter. The mains: 10oz pork rump steak. This hadn't been marinated and was horrendously over cooked and dry. Had no flavour and was hard to swallow. Second main was the sticky fried chicken burger. This was awful. The burger bun was burnt and literally black. The chicken burger was not sticky or fried, instead was a regular battered chicken burger which appeared grilled. The sauce was on the burger bun and not the chicken. The burger didn't have any spring onions. It tasted disgusting and after getting home, I have been sick. The other main was a kids cheese burger which was completely inedible. The burger bun was burnt and black and the burger was so dry she couldn't swallow it. All of this was an extremely disappointing experience not to mention that the place was crawling with flies walking over the tables and cutlery. When we said about the disappointing meals, all they done was take off the kids meal off the bill and apologised and said there is new chefs so they will keep an eye on it. Honestly it was absolutely dreadful and we won't be returning. I would suggest everyone to avoid this place. Massively disappointing and disgusting.

Have had many occasions here including our wedding and have always had a lovely time! We decided to have my wife’s surprise birthday party here. After emailing the pub asking if we could hire the hall and have our own dj and music with the response as a yes we were rudely told to leave at quarter past ten. We were told by the rude owner that if he had known there was going to be a dj that he would have charged us more! We were all having a lovely time until the lights were simply switched on. My autistic daughter was very upset, as we tried to calm her down this man was looking down on us as we sat cuddling her on the sofa telling us to leave. We were told that we were all getting to drunk, everyone had children so we were just having a family gathering and everyone was just having fun with our children, at no point was any one to drunk! There were people in the beer garden more drunk falling over and shouting! The owner upset every single person in our family ushering everyone out! We paid an awful lot of money and the service we received was utterly disgusting. This man should not be a pub owner and is very rude, he has ruined the George for us and shall never step foot in the place again

We paid a large amount of money for the Christmas Day meal of 12 people and unfortunately it wasn’t the best, upon arrival we were supposed to be offered a Prosecco or Buck’s Fizz, ( none offered) so we thought they may come over with some to the table but no they didn’t so obviously everyone wanted a drink so we all had to go to the bar of which we would of done anyway to get a drink but still should of had the Prosecco or Buck’s Fizz on arrival as it says on the menu. We were booked in for a certain time and 50 mins after the sit down time we had to ask if we were getting our appetizer of olives, hummus and bread, yes we will get them for you now, 15 minutes later they arrived, don’t get me wrong I know it was busy but perhaps they had too many people in for the times they booked in or not enough staff, anyway by then we had to ask if we were getting our starters after an hour and a half of the sit down time, surely we shouldn’t of had to ask, if a member of staff had come over and said sorry for the delay then that would of been fine but there was no communication just to let us know, so from the second we got in there we had waited an hour and half for our starters, when we got the starter the starter was lovely but then when it was time for the main then that was a long wait too, not sure how long but it was a long wait again. When the main came it was ok but hardly any gravy, we did ask for more and they said ok we will go and get some but never got it, there was no cranberry sauce and also no sprouts or cauliflower cheese of which was on the menu, we did ask for cranberry sauce but it seemed like they didn’t have any, next was the pudding, we had to ask if we were getting our puddings as we had waited a while again and was told oh sorry we forgot, when the puddings finally arrived we had to ask for more spoons as we had used the spoons for our soup on first course, waited for about 10 mins for the spoons to arrive but then the puddings were nearly cold. Unfortunately most of us had the Christmas pudding which tasted like rubber which all of us thought and didn’t eat much of it, custard was ok tho but cold as had to wait for spoons. After the pudding was the 5th course of coffee and mince pies, we waited, waited and waited for this , we then had to ask twice about this and it still took ages to get them.

We are not impatient people and don’t mind a little wait but the timing of waiting we’re not great, we felt abit sorry for the staff as they were working with what they had so it wasn’t the staffs fault, they were very pleasant , I just think it could have been organised better and the communication could have been much better about the delays , we still gave a good tip to the staff though as they were under a lot of pressure on Christmas Day so it wasn’t there fault at all.

Sorry for the complaint as we don’t like too but a lot of money was paid out for that meal on Christmas Day and wasn’t acceptable.

We went over to the George inn in October for a meal of 9 people and the food was fantastic and the staff were great too so it’s a lovely place to go , just needed more on that...

Our 3rd time stopping at the George inn , walked in and checked in to find there was a small issue with our rooms there was three of us all lads and previously we’d had a twin room and a double room but this time it was two double’s we politely asked if we could have extra bedding to split the beds apart witch is when we got talking to who I believe is the manager Steve he come across quite rude and stated we booked the rooms for two persons when on checking emails we clearly booked for three after 15 minutes of trying to resolve he eventually moved us to a twin room and all was well , we then had a meal and drinks and ordered desserts knowing they was busy after having to wait 50 minutes we cancelled the dessert and was just told FINE no apologies at all , moving on being three blokes working away we went to a quiet area in the conservatory to speak to partners etc whilst finishing our drinks witch has never bothered staff on previous visits , we’d been sat in there 5/10 minutes and had snacks on the table unopened to take to bed this is when Steve practically burst in starting weirdly touching our snacks moving them around the table and then not polite at all told us we shouldn’t be in there it’s closed!! Was that not obvious to you !! , baring in mind the doors were open and there was no signs stating otherwise at this time we’d had enough of Steve’s attitude towards us and called him out on his unprofessional and rude behaviour towards us we moved elsewhere and maybe 10 minutes later Steve was talking to another member of the staff about the altercation blatantly at the bar almost slagging us off in a way ,We were and still are the next day disgusted by his attitude . The next day breakfast arrived and all looked pleasant if your lucky you get two pork sausages whereas two other all day breakfasts had one pork and one vegan sausage only pleasant part of our stay was the lovely polite greeting and conversation...
