Elitists, hoarding natural beauty under the protective guise of conservation. I’m an ardent conservationist but cannot enjoy the wilds this beautiful country can offer with all the access to the remote and desirable areas restricted only to an elite few. Shame.
Canada and the US definitely hold the upper-hand when it comes to sharing more-abundant natural beauty with the public while simultaneously maintaining strong conservation efforts.
In an attempt to be fair and balanced, the Glenfeshie estate collection, owned by Andres Povlsen, does allow walk-in access for the general public - which is helpful and a step in the right direction, but limits many from enjoying the natural beauty of this glen. Public, vehicle-accessible access to the Glenfeshie river (that allows responsible, sustainable use of the area through a symbiotic, trusting relationship with the public conservationist patrons) is what is needed. I briefly visited on Saturday and was made to feel very welcome in a beautiful, period building with exquisite furnishings to match. Situated in a stunning Scottish Glen with wondrous views all around. Well worth a walk down the River Feshie to really appreciate the beauty of this Glen. I'd love to visit again one day, perhaps...
