We stayed over the August bank holiday and found it to be a lovely way to spend the bank holiday. ||The host greeted us upon our arrival which was a really nice touch, she gave us all relevant information regarding our stay and the local area….including walking directions to the nearest pub (see review on the carpenters) ||We stayed in Mimis tree yurt and found it to be perfectly situated as it was the first yurt you pass with its own parking space located within walking distance of the yurt, great for loading and unloading the car. ||The yurt was well maintained & clean. It had a very rustic feel to it, more rustic than other yurts we have stayed in, it was nice. The outdoor shower was hot, and the bath was incredible! The log burner heats up the yurt perfectly for chillier nights….pay attention regardless of it being a warmer day the yurt really does get chilly over night do not underestimate the temperature! ||The only element of the yurt we were less keen on having stayed at other yurts is that the compostable toilet is attached to the yurt…and the downside to this is that during windy weather the smell of the compost heap is pushed up and lingers a little throughout. There is a toilet cover plug and toilet seat but we unfortunately ended up staying during a storm. ||We enjoyed toasting marshmallows and making s’mores outside one evening and just using the yurt as a really lovely place to chill and relax. Everything we needed was provided by way of kitchen equipment & bits and pieces and there was a lovely hammock swings outside. ||We would recommend staying here if you want to get back to basics and really give yourself time...

We stayed in Phoenix tree house, a cute and charming building lovingly hand crafted from upcycled local materials. The setting is lovely, in a secluded corner of a meadow overlooking the Welsh border with Skirrid mountain in the distance. The off-grid facilities all have their individual ways of functioning. There is hot water on demand in the kitchen, loo and outdoor shower. The loo is compost but not too smelly if used properly. There is also an outdoor hot tub which has a separate wood fire boiler. There is an efficient gas hob inside or the option to cook on an open fire outside. We were fortunate to be there in hot weather as the bathing facilities are completely outside and uncovered. I’m not sure I would be brave enough to use them in cold weather. The sleeping loft is accessed by a very steep ladder so wouldn’t recommend it for anyone with any mobility issues. The loft is beautifully designed around an old oak tree and has a lovely comfortable bed. The whole setting is very tranquil and we spent most of the time just relaxing there with a daily visit to Eywas Harold for the butcher and general store. My only criticism was the uneven ground in front of the building. As it’s on a hillside, the ground naturally slopes so there is lots of stepping up and down on uneven, sometimes wobbly slabs. It would be so much better if the little seating deck was extended over the whole front to create a verandah. Also a bit of levelling around the fire pit would make it easier to use and not have everything...

Mimis yurt simplistic rustic perfection

Met Matt upon arrival greeted with all smiles and jokes, gave us a lil run down on the site, how it started and what's to come in the next few months as well as some informative information about the local wildlife and what we can expect to see, as we were the only ones on site he said feel free to check out the other treehouses which were equally unique and tranquil, highly recommend exploring the site as its picturesque everywhere also bonus points for finding flokki the mythical majestic himalayan cat with crystal blue eyes super affectionate even crashed with us for a night or two haha, we also witnessed an incredible blood moon and full moon

coming to the end of our stay we bumped into matt again who said he's going to pick up 3 Piglets tonight and if we wanted to come up and see them in the morning that wouldn't be a problem so of course we did and thats where rachel came out to meet us to take us to the pen, Instant smiles and conversation telling us about the house cockerel and all the other chickens and animals on site, we met the Piglets super cute and curious they had more than enough adequate space for them to do what pigs do haha

All in all I'd have to give it 10/10 there were no faults as far as I was concerned the yurt itself was beautiful, massive copper bath, outdoor shower, unbelievably comfy bed and when that fire is roaring it's so cosy you don't want to leave will definitely be back in the future Liam abbie and babyG...

Best glamping ever, an eco-dream. Looking out onto spectacular views of the Black Mountains, each unique and spacious accommodation (two tree houses and two yurts) on Goytree Farm is kitted out in steampunk chic, and perfectly secluded. Nestled in the Golden Valley, the farm benefits from a microclimate so the weather tends to kind. We stayed in Gabriel’s Yurt which has two (two!) yurts: one for the bedroom, the other the well-equipped kitchen. Handcrafted with hazel poles that let in light and air, the yurts are a pleasure to be in. Even the compost loo had in its own wood panelled building. We whiled away three days in our own nature enclave, collecting our provisions stored in the fridge in the stable. Building the wood-burning fire (logs provided) to heat the hot tub was an absorbing activity with a long hot soak under the moonlight as the reward. With its solar fairy lights hung in trees at night, it was like the best bits of a festival without any crowds. Underpinning this luxurious experience is a mission to connect people to wildlife. Once the lead at Grow Wilder in Bristol, Matt Cracknell continues his pioneering work creating a hub for regenerative eco-farming, nature-friendly food and community wellbeing in this magical part of Herefordshire. Watch this space!

We had such a lovely and restorative weekend last week at mimi’s retreat. The yurt and attached wooden cabin are beautiful and charming, and clean and comfortable. The bed (as said in other reviews) really is the comfiest bed we’ve slept on, maybe ever! Loved the outdoor shower! And the copper bath - had to try both. We also had our dog with us, which was great. And spent most of the Saturday just enjoying sitting in the space outside the yurt reading books and enjoying the space/views/greenery. Each yurt or treehouse is also very secluded from each other, which we love, so you feel like you’re surrounded with nature rather than some places where you’re very close to other guests. And the full site at Goytree is just beautiful, with great views across the other side of the valley and over fields, it’s very peaceful. Matt & Rachel are very welcoming and friendly, and really care about what they are creating here, with the glamping but also beyond that. They also have some great recommendations for local pubs etc, which were all great. And we did get to meet the 3 young pigs they’ve recently taken on - super cute!!! We will definitely come back, and have recommended to friends 😊
