Myself and my partner Liam booked the Hewn Yorkshire for our anniversary for a one night stay Thurs-Fri. We have arrived back home today and this place has become very sentimental to me now as this is where my partner proposed to me.
Not only is the above a reason this place will forever be special to me but I have so many great things to say about the complex in general.
If you have dogs, please try this pod stay. The site is super dog friendly and the owners are super friendly and approachable and very helpful. You are checked in and they show you how to operate the hot tub but from that point until check out you are left to your free will to enjoy everything the pod and site has to offer which is peace and tranquillity and gorgeous views.
After being shown our pod (The Powder Monkey) we both knew we had picked this site well. We were welcomed with the most generous pod with lights outside, private and not overlooked with a seating area, hot tub, and fire pit/grill. The hooks around the pod for the dogs was a well thought out and important extra the team have thought about. We walked inside to have two dog bowls, tennis balls, poo bags and treats for our girls. Additions like this mean more to a dog owner than we could explain and it was nice to not have to miss out on luxury because of our dogs, this pod did not miss anything.
The pod is fully equipped with a very comfy bed, a wet room which is very spacious, a fully equipped kitchen and a dining table / TV. There was nothing missing from the pod for us, it was truly perfect.
Please do not worry about this being a wood fired hot tub, the staff kindly showed us how to use it and showed us it was at 40 degrees and it definitely stayed hot throughout.
Logs and fire starter kits are provided on arrival but more of these can be bought on site.
A £50 refundable deposit is required on check in which is more than reasonable for a very high quality and tranquil site.
The meadows, which is now our sentimental place of becoming a fiancé is just perfect for those with dogs. Follow the track from the gorgeously stated reception and you walk along a lovely wooded trail and pass the sauna. There are plenty of benches and bins and you arrive at a large enclosed field perfect for the dogs to let off steam and watch the sun go down.
There is plenty of parking a short walk away from the pods which adds to the feel of peace and tranquility.
There is also a bin shed on site for all rubbish.
This site is so so peaceful. We sat out for hours in the hot tub and doing a fire looking at the stars with not a sound, and we were not the only guests. This is every credit to the owners who have created a site that is nothing short of beautiful and a true haven for people to relax at, whilst respecting their grounds.
We have already looked to book again, and feel this will be a yearly thing now to celebrate our anniversary of getting engaged.
This site will forever be special to me for this reason, but more so, as I have never been to a more welcoming and dog friendly pod where you do not miss out on luxury.
If you want to escape for a few days with nothing but peace and tranquility this is the place to me. You are close enough to towns to visit and have a walk and a drink, but far away enough to relax if you wish.
My only criticism is me and my partner wanted to stay for longer we did not in any way want to leave. Our dogs were so relaxed and loved the grounds the site has to offer.
Thank you to Ed, Anthony and the team for creating such a great get a way and the place that we got engaged, your pods are truly beautiful and we will be back...
Read moreThis was such a wonderful night away! We stayed for our wedding anniversary and had a lovely time. The place is so quiet and tranquil! Very easy to get to as well, we stopped off at Mainsgill Farm before for some food and was only about 5 minutes drive from there. I hadn't heard of this place before, just happily stumbled across it on Instagram, and I am so glad I did!|We stayed in the Foxwood and it was a lovely place, cosy but still loads of room. From the outside you think the inside would be very small but surprisingly there was loads of room for the two of us. The Foxwood cabins/shepard huts (whatever the term for them is called) is dog friendly, we booked very last minute so The Quarry cabins weren't available. We don't have a dog, so I was slightly worried about it smelling like dog, as I've stayed in other places that when we've stayed in a dog friendly cabin it was smelt like dog, but this room didn't at all!|The bed was very comfortable. And the duvet was soo cosy. The wood fired hot tub was amazing, came pre warmed and was very easy to manage to get the right temperature as I had never used a wood fired hot tub before. It was great as you then didn't have any noise that you would have from electric hot tubs, and it was a really good size for the two of us. We had a lovely BBQ on the firepit. You get a fire starter pack and a bag of logs, with more available to purchase if needed, which was a very good price. When I've looked at other places with wood fired hot tubs I've been put of before as some places the additional wood has been very expensive, here for an extra bag of wood was £7, which i thought was a very good price. We kept the fire from the BBQ going a lot longer as it was nice just sitting out in the dark in front of the fire, if we didn't keep that going for as long as we did we wouldn't have needed any extra wood. We bought an extra bag of wood logs because we went back in the hot tub late after tea. |The only small downside at all was that the bathroom was quite cold, and I forgot to pack my slippers so was a quick dash from the hot tub to inside, and then it was very cold in the bathroom but the shower was really nice and hot very quickly. ||The overall site was just amazing. You are in the middle of no where, it was just pure bliss. With no noise or light pollution it was just lovely sitting wrapped up in front of the fire watching the stars.|There is a sauna onsite you can book, it looked lovely as walked up to have a look but we didn't book the sauna this time. I thoroughly enjoyed this stay, the staff was lovely and Anthony was so friendly!! I would definitely recommend this place and we will be back. Next time we are going to stay...
