I visited Hoburne St Mabyn with my partner for 4 Nights (Monday-Friday) in March 2020. The overall visit was superior and this really is a stand-out location that offers superb accommodation of a very high standard.
We arrived at around 13:00, 3 Hours before the usual check-in time of 16:00 – I asked if it would be possible to unload some of our luggage into our allocated lodge so we could go to Newquay for the afternoon; the receptionist was exceptionally friendly, informative and helpful – she advised our lodge was ready and that we could check-in.
First impressions of the park were WOW, the lodges are carefully placed and individually landscaped to offer a tranquil, peaceful and relaxing atmosphere whilst giving maximum privacy. The interior of the lodge really stood out and delivered the wow factor; plenty of hooks, shelves and storage space – the designers did a remarkable job!. A welcome hamper was in the lodge which contained the likes of a bottle of bubbly, milk, biscuits, bottle of water and coffee/sugar etc – a really nice gesture.
Everything we needed was included, a generous amount of cutlery, glassware (glass & plastic for the hot tub), crockery, saucepans etc. We also received a bag with the essentials such as washing up liquid, bin liner & dishwasher tablet. We had a full size fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.
The hot tub was amazing and probably one of the best I've had for a long time, it was powerful with plenty of jets and included a lounger too!. The hot tub was checked twice-daily by a very friendly gentleman who always went above and beyond.
The site itself is fairly small meaning there aren't hundreds of lodges, we never had an issue with noise and always found it to be peaceful and relaxing.
There were a few points I thought of that could improve the lodge/location; One being some board games In the lodge would be a great addition – giving something to do when the weather isn’t great for going out. Secondly a knife block would probably be better to store the sharper/bread/carving knives rather than these being in the second drawer up with easy access for toddlers/children. Finally as Hoburne St Mabyn is a Hoseasons Autograph collection location I was surprised that robes/slippers weren’t included – in my opinion they should be as other Autograph lodges include this.
Regardless of the above we had a superior time and found the lodge/location a great base for exploring Cornwall. I’d certainly recommend a day out in Newquay & Padstow. Port Isaac is great to have a walk/explore too. Not to mention the countless bays/beaches that this part of England has to offer.
Overall we had a fantastic time at Hoburne St Mabyn and we’ll definitely be back in the future, thankyou to all the staff who made our break one to remember and the colleagues who make the location stand out above...
Read moreA lovely four night break in one of the lodges with a hot tub, such peace and quiet in a beautiful setting. If you want entertainment and play parks this is not the place for you as there is neither, if you want a quiet getaway in a modern well appointed lodge then this is definitely the place.
We had two bedrooms, both ensuite, the kitchen has a full size dishwasher and fridge freezer and washer drier, not a huge amount of room for the non perishable food, and I couldn't find any instructions for the white goods but nothing that Google couldn't solve. We had a lovely sunny deck and the hot tub was a hit, they check them twice a day. They don't allow BBQs which wasn't a problem for us, and they ask you to be considerate of your neighbours with noise etc so not to play ball games in the areas between lodges.
It was super clean and tidy and well thought out with hooks in the right places, an airer, and an iron and board if you need it. The welcome pack of tea, bread and milk was a lovely touch and of course all Cornish produce.
The Eden project is 30 mins drive away and the lost gardens of Heligan 45 mins drive, and you can head to the beaches on the north coast in around half hour or so.
Such a lovely place we would...
Read moreI stayed here for a short break with my husband in September. We stayed in number 19 which was a hot tub lodge. The accommodation was immaculate and very cosy. The hot tub was lovely and serviced twice a day. The park is very quiet and remote, which we were aware of when booking. It doesn’t have entertainment or a shop which didn’t bother us at all. The nearest supermarket is 5 miles away so best to bring everything you can with you. The roads surrounding the park are very narrow and I did struggle with this a little as a slightly nervous driver. We booked through Hoseasons and there were no warnings about the roads so just something to bear in mind. We would return in the future as it was the perfect place to chill out, I would just get my husband to drive! There is lots to do locally, including Bodmin Jail, steam railway, Port Issac and Padstow. All were within a 20 minute drive. You also get a lovely welcome pack on your first day that includes essentials you will need (milk, cleaning products, fudge, scones, jam and cream, ect) which I thought was a really nice touch. Would...
