There is no way on earth this can be regarded as a four star hotel. I stayed with my girlfriend last weekend for one night and found the hotel to be very disappointing in a number of aspects.
The hotel was not air-conditioned which I suspect is what gave it a very odd stale smell throughout.
The restaurant was extremely hot and humid and the windows were all closed on a very hot day (29 degrees), the windows were also extremely dirty and were covered in spiders webs on the outside so they'd clearly not been opened or cleaned in a while.
The general appearance of the interior of the hotel was very poor, the carpets inconsistent between lobby, reception, bar, corridors, and rooms.
The wear and tear on the carpets was extremely obvious in areas as was a lack of cleanliness.
The bedroom we had (Cromwell) was extremely dated in appearance and equipment.
There was no fridge or mini-bar in the room.
There was no WiFi available in the room but there was "a modem port on the telephone" as if people still use dial up modems?!! The bedding was very dated and although we booked a double room we had two beds pushed together and two individual duvets.
The staff were on the whole not at all charismatic or engaging, the service was generally very slow.
The beer in the bar was not chilled and was stored on a shelf, I wasn't quite expecting a warm pint of ale...
The food in the restaurant was certainly not that of a four star hotel, I had a terrine followed by the duck, both of which were sub standard, we did however have a very nice bottle of French merlot.
I'm sure I was annoyed by a lot more at the time but the details evade me.
The...

Last Sunday ( Mother's day ) a group of 4 of us had the most amazing time at Maes Y Neuadd.
Michelle was the absolute perfect host, very knowledgeable of the history of the building and the area, very welcoming, very accommodating and down to earth but professional personality, could not of asked for better service!
We did not stay the night at Maes Y Neuadd, however, we did have an opportunity to view the rooms in the building as it was a quiter day. All the rooms where presented immaculacy, with an astounding level of detail in each room to help preserve the history building, but also give a clean modern experience. We will be returning to stay for a long weekend 100%.
To fulfil our hunger we had a great offer of food, our choice was the Cheese platter, and Jacket potatoes. Great selection on the platter, and the potato where prefect, did the job so to speak haha.
The location is probably the best you'll see in wales. On one side you have a clear view of Snowdon ( Eryri ) and the Snowdonia range ( Eryri Nation park ). You will also have a clear view of the sea ( Bae Ceredigion ) and beaches on the coast below. These view's are clearly visible from multiple rooms, aswell as the outside seating area.
Overall we could not of had a better experience, the trouble comes now with trying to top-it for Mother-day next year LOL!
I would recommend 100%, our experience truly...
Read moreRecently returned from their Spring Wellness Retreat which was fantastic. I wasn’t really sure what to expect and didn’t know much about it before booking but the accommodation and location looked great and I was not disappointed. The weekend managed to feel very relaxing but was organised so well that it didn’t feel boring at any point. We had four yoga sessions, a sound bath, walks/wild swim and a creative art session. The food was amazing throughout, beautifully presented and so tasty. I had surgery the week before and was quite anxious about how I’d get on. I needn’t have worried, I felt very well looked after and adjustments were made in the activities so I could still be included. The hosts were so lovely, excellent at communicating and ensured that the weekend went smoothly in every way. If you’re thinking about booking a stay or retreat, you won’t be...
