Just returned from our family, week holiday here. Lovely, clean cabins (we hired 2). Everything at hand. Nice, sturdy beds which come with a light quilt and pillow (as well as under sheet). Heating worked very well. Extra electric fire in the front room. You do your own recycling and emptying of your own bins, everything is clearly marked. Stunning views where our two cabin's were situated (No 13 & 14) Can sit out on the deck of each cabin.
Staff are helpful and friendly.
Local shop which opens at 9am - 1pm everyday for necessities and newspapers. In peek season it is open longer.
Children's facilities - is a big sports room filled with a few coin machines and games as well as a small ball bit for under 5's and a large one for over 5's with an extremely large slide which gives friction burns, and a small bouncy thing for two players??....... in all it was a little disappointing and dismal BUT having said that the kids DID enjoy the ball pit and playing with the other kids. The staff will only put up the bouncy castle if there are a certain amount of children about to use it.
Swimming - They have a big pool which is used for swimming and walking (in those big ballooon/ balls things) and gets quite deep. And another pool which is for younger ones and starts shallow and gets a little deeper as it goes on. The pools are very clean though.
Jacuzzi - lovely, bubbly and very warm/hot, there are two of these. Though only one was working. A sign is up to only use them for 10mins at a time though most people seemed to ignore this sign. Open showers and shared changing rooms. Great for families.
Restaurant - only used it the once and it was also disappointing as all their meals on the 'tonight's specials menu' were all gone but we were told about this 45mins after ordering, then we had to re-order and the food took nearly two hours to arrive after first ordering. Not a particularly great menu, and not overly busy either.....not sure if that means something?
Golf- If you love golf then give it a go here, the views are stunning! And the golf course isn't bad either. If you don't play, go and see the views from here.
Ferry Tickets - Be careful when purchasing any ferry tickets from the desk at the resort, though these maybe cheaper than on the ferry, make sure you get the correct ones or the ferry will make you pay for a completely new ticket if you get it wrong and then you have the job of trying to get your money back.
But you make your own holiday and for somewhere to lay your head this is a lovely, clean place and close...
Read moreHonestly, was amazing. The location is perfect on a Loch and surrounded by mountains (also on the edge of the National Park) and the views no matter where you drive are just amazing. So much to see in the area, we barely made a dent! The Park itself is really nice, we were in a Jura Caravan and for the summer holidays, was so reasonably priced. Although the basic accommodation there, it was Comfortable, spacious, and had everything we needed (cooker, fridge, grill etc)comfortable beds etc. The Jura caravans are also really well located, we were in number one, and although next to the road, we had a view of the mountains (over the trees) and it was a 5 min walk from the shop and 5 mins also from the leisure complex. The staff were all amazing, very friendly and helpful people. The Entertainment staff did a really good job of the Bingo and evening entertainments. We saw Kat, Sophie & Sophie perform and they were fab! The entertainment hall is shared with the kids play area and little arcade, which was really good as accomodates the kids and adults. It meant we could sit and play bingo and our 10 year old go off and play In the play area (which we otherwise wouldn't have done and would have give entertainment a miss to watch them). The go activities we did were archery we did this once as a family which we all loved, Ewan and Ashley were great and made it really fun for everyone. 10 year old did this again on their own (body zorbing was cancelled so we changed this to archery again) and there was a lot of kids in the group this time and they again loved it. Also booked the mini karts (which we initially thought looked like it would be boring when we got there) but Nicole made it so fun for all the kids and everyone seemed to love it. 10 year old enjoyed the water walker, though tbh we thought that looked quite boring as seemed a bit of waiting about for the kids taking part and then go up and down the pool. The pool itself was really good, no need to book, just turn up (open all day) and was never busy when we went, there's also a jacuzzi, steam room and sauna there. We only went in Hunters Bar and Grill once, this was on our last day for breakfast and was really nice. 10 year old loved his pancakes and it was all reasonably priced! All in all, we had an amazing time and will definitely be back! Thank you to all the staff who made...
Read moreHunters quay Holiday village is great because it's only about 3 hours by bus outside Glasgow but you feel like you are in the proper countryside. The staff here are amazing very helpful and make an effort to get to know you. The food and drinks is very good they do a daily deal which is usually quite good and better value for money you can order take out from the restaurant to take back to caravan but it is on the expensive . Great evening entertainment with live bands shows and disco you don't always have to be staying at the caravan village to attend some of these occasions. ( my favourite is the Halloween party) They have a great team for the children to keep them entertained with loads of activities during the day that they can do like archery rock climbing and a lot more there is a board posted outside the main reception with the activities on it for that week and at night-time there is a kid's entertainer with games and other fun things. The adults can do activities like cycling archery just to name a few or relax in the leisure facility like the swimming pool gym and the beauty treatments. If you are an owner of a caravan at this site you can go on experience days with other owners and then there's is the special Ball's for the owners which are fantastic. The local bus that takes you into the centre of Dunoon where you can catch other buses to lots of interesting places the bus stops right outside the caravan site just down the hill the bus is fully wheelchairs accessible. Disabled accessibility is fine in the bars and restaurants and for the evening events but not for the leisure facilities like the swimming pool it doesn't have a lift into the water you have to be able to get yourself in and out. The site itself is not great for wheelchair users because there's a lot of hills and loose chuckies but usually you can find someone to give you a hand. Very nice for a...
