No electrics on site & no hot water, this is simply an old fashioned but unspoiled excellent site. As long as people know in advance what to expect, they can be prepared. Fresh water, good clean toilet block with washing facilities (take your boiled kettle along, if camping), pitch where you want (no marked pitches), mostly on grass in a very large open site surrounded by forest, some more secluded pitches within a tree lined track & a few hard standing spots, so something for everyone.|Very peaceful, wardens are knowledgeable, helpful & friendly, you can walk for miles without seeing hardly anyone, fantastic for dogs. Never/rarely overcrowded (unlike many sites), just a 'get away from it all' kind of place.|Does it have midges? Yes, if the weather is still, but show me somewhere out of town in Scotland that doesn't have them when there isn't a breeze.|£10 per unit per night (caravan, motor-home, tent; no extra charge for awnings, number of people, dogs etc) & cheaper if you walk/cycle in, What is not to like? Just be prepared; 3 miles to village, 20 miles to nearest towns, so take as much with you as you need, Run on gas & solar (caravans & motor-homes) & campers be prepared to boil some water for washing. Simply a great place.|However, if you 'have to have' tarmacked hard-standing/roads/paths, onsite lighting, evenly/closely spaced uniform pitches, hot running water, lots of rules/regulations, higher prices, etc, then this is not for you.|Leave it for to those...

Brilliant site and Ellie was a diamond. We stayed one night with the campervan and our two Border Collies cost £18, July 2023. There are very clean toilets, sinks for washing, and wet rooms for full wash with your own solar shower or bowl with hot water, also disabled toilet area. Also a pan wash area and fresh water. Plenty of grass stands and a few hard stands, Campervans, Caravans and tent can be used. The drive is a forest track 10mph, please. You can dispose of black and grey waste even if your not staying, a small cost is required. There will in time be EHU. Plenty of walking in the area in the Black forest with colour coded posts or make your own up. No open fires and strict dogs on leads in the camp area. No Vodaphone signal or 4G in the site, but we did get both whilst on the Blue dedignated route. Booked on line and screen shot the confirmation for the warden (Ellie) to see when she comes around. The Warden is not on site 24/7. We just parked up setyled in and Ellie came around. Nearest shop...

This is definitely a site for peace and tranquillity away from the world's problems! Situated in the woods there is plenty of forest walks and cycle paths through the forest as well. Quite a gradual hike up the longer routes but the smell of Scots pine and the noise of the burn just makes you want to build a log cabin! Anyway the campsite is huge and you have to book online in advance to get electric. If you don't need electric you can turn up on the day and pay the Warden at night. Cash is best but I think she does cards! There are no showers because the water supply is spring gravity fed. However, a new system of roasting hot water comes out of the tap and the wash cubicle is large enough to get yer bits done! Bring baby wipes if you're not sure but some cheap face cloths are also a good idea for a good dichter!!! There are only 2 wash cubicles and 2 spare sinks in the mens so don't be moaning if there queue. Overall, this site is also good for Dark Sky starry...

Stayed at Kilvrecht campsite just for an overnight. Was awesome to find somewhere to just unplug. There was no O2 Mobile signal and that's part of the draw to the area for me. The site has a toilet block with cold water only. There's grey water and chemical toilet disposal and there is potable water filling facilities. We stayed as a tent booking, but were car camping. This is a new endeavour for us so we were thoroughly thankful for our chat with the site warden, who asked us about how we were getting on with the car camping. This exchange resulted in us rethinking some of our plans and provisions for future trips. We will always be grateful for the experience and have promised ourselves future visits to the site.

Arrived off spec after the last campsite was c rap. Loved the drive up to the gate, the campsite is laid out in different sections surrounded by semi natural birch and pine forest covered in lichen and moss. Very quiet site with plenty of space. Facilities are basic and might not be to everyone's comfort as there are no showers or hot water. The toilets are very clean. Camp warden is Ellie who is supa friendly and had no problem with us turning up unannounced. Ellie would come round and take the time to speak to all who were staying that day. Excellent base for exploring the area so highly recommended.

If you want peace and quiet, come here. The toilets are clean and regularly maintained. Fresh water points, elsan point and there is also 2 electrical bike charging points(free to use when the warden is there) Plenty of walks and the loch is only a 5 minute walk through the trees if you want to go fishing or paddle boarding. More eletric and hardstanding Pitches were completed and was told the electricity Pitches was ready to go ahead that week. The park grounds are kept to a high standard.
