This is a beautiful “place to stay”, surrounded by glorious countryside. The individually decorated rooms are lovely and kept immaculately clean. The hosts are great. They and their staff are so friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble for them. Sam’s breakfasts are absolutely delicious and really set you up for the day. The location is an excellent base with so many options for days out within easy driving distance. We’ve stayed here on many occasions and always enjoy every second. Whether you want a few quiet days in the countryside to recharge your batteries or an active family holiday, the Place to Stay is absolutely ideal and always so accommodating.

Avoid if you have dogs - not dog friendly. Would rather they said no dogs altogether or asked for a deposit if they were worried about dogs trashing the room. To pay for a room and then be told to leave your dog in a crate or put inside a hot car in peak summer is idiotic. Our dog was old and blind and meant that we couldn’t do a hike of cheddar gorge, as planned. To avoid disappointment, we ended up buying a hiking bag to carry the dog up to the top, as dogs can’t be left in the room... A shame, as it’s a nice place and staff are nice - just don’t bother booking if you’ve got a dog, as not worth the hassle.

I echo my daughter's recent review. Staying here was like visiting friends. Joss is a wonderful host, approachable and friendly. The accommodation is superb and surroundings are beautiful. Breakfast was plentiful and set us up for the visit to Longleat, about which Joss's advice was very helpful. It's only a short car journey away from Longleat so an ideal choice. The children enjoyed the gardens and the animals. We adults spent some lovely relaxing evenings enjoying the ambience. We would love to go back.

My partner had booked a surprise visit to Longleat, stopping over two nights at A Place To Stay in Frome.|A delight from the first cheerful hello to the friendly goodbye.|We arrived at reception and were guided through guest house information by a pleasantly friendly Lady.|My partner was not in the rudest of health but the place was warm and welcoming, and immediately made her feel better.|The room had all comforts, and we were kept warm through a very cold night.|Bed was comfortable, pillows equally so, and tea, coffee and biscuits provided.|The whole area including bathroom, in fact the whole house was spotless and had been dressed in Christmas finery.|Next morning we enjoyed a lovely breakfast courteously of the lovely Jos who was clearly used to guests and clearly enjoyed their visits. We were wished a lovely day as we set off and enquiries made as to our endeavours next morning whilst enjoying another super breakfast.|A must if you're in the area.|Nowhere else would...

We were a couple travelling with 2 children ages 5 and 9. We booked the larger family room which had the 2nd separate bedroom off the conservatory which was a great space. I almost don't want to write a review due to wanting to keep this gem to ourselves. Its in such a beautiful location the rooms are well looked after and the views are simply stunning. The owner Jos clearly cares about guest experience and my girls loved her and the rest of the staff especially the dogs! From our room we got to watch the swans, ducks and horses. The room set up was fantastic for travelling with children for more than a night when having space for them to sleep means adults can sit, talk and watch TV etc. The location was perfect for us and really easy to find. My girls are already asking when we will be back. Loved pre ordering breakfast which was cooked to perfection and great options...
