We had an amazing stay at Lantern and Larks Exton park. The Huts were lovely and clean and the beds were super comfy. All the bbq/cooking utensils supplied and plenty of wood for making fires. Lovely hot showers too. The location was beautiful facing a lake. There was an on site honesty shop where you could take what you wanted and write it down to pay later. They supplied things like water, ice, ice creams and crisps. They had lots of games and toys for the kids to borrow and books for the adults. Lanterns were also supplied and plenty of blankets for those late cold nights. We took out dog with us too who loved it. It was all enclosed so was safe for both the kids and dogs. We will be returning next year.

Set in a 5 acre 18th century walled garden on the Exton estate near Oakham in Rutland are 6 well spaced out safari tents that sleep 6 people in 3 separate rooms. Theres no electricity but a gas hob and a huge wood fired oven and stove to cook and keep you warm with frozen water bottles for your coolers in the honesty shop. Each tent has it's own picnic table and fire bowl with bbq grill outside and the whole place is just lovely, peaceful and secluded. The kids absolutely loved it and played together for 3 days without a hint of technology. Highly recommend it and will definitely be going again.

Glamping was great. The 'tents' had a kitchen, living room, two twin bedrooms and a master. The site was huge When we arrived we were pleasantly greeted and escorted around the site. The site has a honesty shop, wood storage and car parking. There was no signal or electricity however the shop does have sockets you can leave your devices.

We have just returned from a 4 night trip to Exton Park glamping site. I've glamped before but this on a whole new level. We stayed in Kite tent in the orchard area. It was very peaceful. We were a family of 4, including a dog and two teenagers. They were thrilled to discover sockets in the honesty shop for charging up their phones! The campsite is enclosed so the dog was safe to roam around.||The tents are very well equipped, there is little else you need to bring. They provide re-chargeable lanterns and candles. Extra bright lanterns if you have them and a couple of torches are also useful to bring. The kitchen has everything you need, including a cool box with ice packs you swap in the honesty shop so food keeps fairly fresh. ||The local bakery is approx. 20 min walk through the country tracks and really good. Recommend the eccles cakes particularly! We also visited the local pub in Exton village, which was very nice. And Exton is so pretty. Rutland Water is approx. 5 min drive away with lots of watersports on offer.||We highly recommend this campsite and look forward to returning or trying one of the Lantern & Larks...

We’ve just returned from a weeks stay and I’m missing it already. A peaceful walled garden with enough space for our kids (4 and 7) to roam. Plenty of nature and bugs for them to spot. Then after bedtime we stayed up by the fire pit.||||The site was spacious and each tent could keep to themselves with no concerns over social distancing etc. Plenty of handsoap in the tents too.||||A good location for accessing Rutland Water and also Striking out a bit further if needed.||||We also walked daily to the nearby bakery.||||On-site the honesty shop was stocked with basic essentials (and the luxury of a magnum or two from the freezer).||||The tents have most things you could want (including a cafetière). The lack of fridge makes things trickier but we knew this going in so it wasn’t a surprise and the farm shop nearby kept us stocked. There are cool boxes and frozen hot water bottles to keep things chilled.||||It does get cold overnight but again we were warned of this before we set off and packed accordingly. There were also plenty of spare blankets.||||All in all we are already talking about when we will be heading back for...

Excellent facilities - tent was the best equipped and cosiest (rugs on the floor!) that we’ve stayed in. Although cool boxes were the smallest - two small ones rather than a massive one in other places which is easier to keep cool and clearly fits more food in! ||Honesty shop on site for last minute essentials although quite sparse - mainly uht milk, firefighters and marshmallows! Book swap too for those that might race through a holiday read. ||Setting was amazing - within a walled field so safe for kids to roam around, playing games and having adventures with kids from other tents. Take ball games, frisbee, cricket set etc! ||Location great - close to Rutland water, bakery, farm shops, Oakham town, melton Mowbray etc. Aqua park was great fun for those able bodied and brave enough to be in the cold water for an hour(!). We couldn’t make full use of activities in local area as we had 3 kids out of 4 in our 2-family party who were injured or in casts! We will be back to do it properly...
