The site is in the middle of nowhere which may appeal to some. However, the owners are the most arrogant and rude owners I have ever met. They have absolutely no customer service skills and do not meet, greet or even leave an idea of where you are meant to stay. Arriving on a busy Bank Holiday weekend they were nowhere to be seen, when I mentioned this to them they said they just argued. Although not their fault, the field next to the camping field had just been 'treated' and it stank!! It made us (and others on the site) quite ill. As I said, this was not the owners fault but they didn't care less. Many left the site and commented on the owners attitude, I have to make comment to you reading this that they are simply awful site managers. Most managers would have shown empathy and maybe said we are sorry about your experience but hope to see you again in the future or similar. Not these pair!! They kept saying it was nothing to do with them and they are not sorry. Both were dismissive, rude, arrogant and obnoxious - apart from that a lovely couple :( Suggest you try any other site in the UK first before booking here, but if you do, be warned of the unwelcome reception you...
Read moreLiked: We had a lovely week staying at Larkrise in the cottage. We received a very warm welcome from the owners and the manager which was appreciated after a long drive. The cottage was very clean, with beds made up on arrival, and very comfortable. The cottage had everything we could possibly need and some things we hadn't even thought about! The shower is great, very hot and powerful which was needed after long days out exploring. Dishwasher and washing machine were also a welcome addition. No WiFi as it rural but our phones had surprisingly good signal and data worked with no issues.
Larkrise is set in lovely surroundings of you want a peaceful holiday. There is a road but honestly you don't hear it at all. The camping field was a great safe place for our 9 year old to play when on site. He loved the goal posts. The onsite shop is well stocked and came in handy when we needed some late night ice cream. The local town is literally a few minutes drive away with a choice of small supermarkets, a great children's play area and even a takeaway or two. Further afield we visited The Deep, Cleethorpes Beach, Lincolnshire Wildlife Park, Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Museum...
Read moreStayed on the campsite for 2 nights and the hosts John and Susie were lovely. The "manager", on the other hand clearly has no idea about how to manage a property nor anything about customer service. I found her to be very rude and I am a very tolerant person. The place is low cost and good value in that sense but it's a place very much stuck in the past. If easy jet did camping, this would be it. The site needs a tidy up, the annoying padlock on the gate needs removing. Difficult to put back on and I almost threw it in the bin. Honestly there are better places down the road, I have been and stayed there (they were booked up hence we couldn't) and I would just suggest you look slightly further afield. We shall not be returning. It's not for us. Have been camping with the kids for over 9 years. It's a field with hedgerows around it. No view. Near a road. No hot water. No washing up facilities and showers which have seen much better days. Good for a stop over. Certainly not a break. The place has potential with some investment and customer service training (with the exception of John and his wife who without a doubt are the lovest people...
