Afternoon Tea at Lastingham Grange yesterday was superb. A selection of sandwiches, mini sausages rolls, warm scones with delicious strawberry jam and cream, blackcurrant mousse with meringue garnish, profiteroles and cupcakes. Our daughter requires gluten free and declared all items in her afternoon tea to be delicious and fresh, even the bread in the sandwiches! There were three of us, all with different tea requirements of green tea, camomile tea (leaves, not teabags) and "regular" tea which was properly served with extra hot water and offers of more if required. Read moreHad an afternoon tea here I have to say I've had better this was bought as a wedding gift The service was fine we were welcomed in and told where to go which was like a lounge with old fashioned furniture was like travelling back in time. You could sit outside but we chose inside as it wasn't the warmest of days didn't have to wait long then it came there were an assortment of sandwiches and cakes pot of tea and pot of hot water. The salmon sandwiches were raw salmon which isn't for me the ham ones were fine the cakes were OK but not amazing and I didn't care for the scones at all! Now as I say this was a gift so I am assuming that the couple that gave us this loved it there so maybe we were just unfortunate but I will be sticking to marks and Spencer for there...
