Loch Broom Chalets are a great base for exploring north west Scotland. They are on the North Coast 500 rout and are about 4 miles from Ullapool. The chalets have views over Loch Broom and the mountains beyond. The chalets are quite basic, but perfectly adequate. They are comfortable and well equipped. The shower in our chalet was really good. Although the chalets are beside the main road into Ullapool, there's not that much late night traffic, so they are pretty quiet and the big, comfy beds resulted in a really good night's sleep. We saw red squirrels most days and a fair variety of birds visited the bird feeders on our balcony. Some of the chalets had step-free access.

What a wonderful place to stay that offers a quiet location that is clean, cozy and feels like home away from home in the Highlands. My hosts were warm and welcoming as always. I've stayed here twice and loved it both times. The Stags Rest allows you to see a beautiful view of Lochbroom as you eat your breakfast or have your coffee in the morning. The chalets are close to the village where to can buy groceries at Tesco or grab dinner of one of the local restaurants. There are shops to purchase gifts at and there is plenty to do in the area if you are an outdoors person like me. This is a great location along the North Coast 500 and I highly recommend it.

⸻ Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5) We stayed in one of the wooden cabins and absolutely loved it! It was spotless, cozy, and had an incredible view from the terrace 🌲 The red squirrels visiting in the morning were just adorable 🤩 The whole place felt peaceful and relaxing – perfect for a quiet getaway. The only downside was the dog fee – £15 per night is quite a lot, especially if you stay for several days, and it wasn’t clearly mentioned on Booking. I totally understand an extra charge for pets, but for longer stays it really adds up. Other than that, everything was wonderful – we’d definitely come back! 🐿️❤️

I was disappointed with the accommodation overall. First of all let me list the positives:

Fiona was great. Everything from booking to check-in was friendly. There is a real shortage of accommodation in Ullapool and the Chalets seemed a really good middle ground between a hotel and self catering accommodation.

The bedroom and bathroom were clean and the bed was very comfortable and spacious. There was plenty hot water and the shower was powerful.

The location is fantastic. The view from our chalet (the Badger's Sett) was excellent. The centre of Ullapool is only about 10 minutes away and there is a large Tesco there too.

Let me list the negatives:

The lack of basic supplies was really surprising. Breakfast is obviously not included but I would have thought basic supplies would have been provided. The only thing in our Chalet was pepper. There was no salt or cooking oil nor any kitchen paper nor sugar nor tea. I asked Fiona if we could have tea bags since they were not in our chalet. She advised that:

Sorry I’m not there

We are not supposed to leave them in the chalet atm.

I will be back in an hour is that any good ? "

I presume the reference to not leaving them is because of COVID. That seemed odd because there was coffee in our Chalet but no tea or sugar. It was only when tea bags arrived over an hour later that I realised there was no sugar and didn't want to hassle the hosts around 9pm. In addition the teabags which were delivered were in an open packet. If not including them was due to a COVID concern, I'm surprised a sealed packet or individual sealed sachets were not there instead.

Our toaster was also broken so we had to end up cooking the toast in a pan with oil we purchased from Tesco.

There was no shower gel or shampoo in the shower. There was also only one towel each which meant I wasn't able to shower before dinner.

Our daughter was with us and Fiona advised that there was no extra space for beds/cots. On arrival the bedroom was spacious and I do think the bedroom would have been able to accommodate a travel cot. Ditto re a highchair in the living room.

The balcony was wonderful to have but the tables and chairs had a lot of cobwebs and some of the decking was broken.

Although the bedroom and bathroom were clean, the kitchen seemed really dated and the cooker was grubby and rusty. The living room carpet seemed to have a lot of pet hair. The place is pet friendly which is fine but I was surprised to see pet hair on the carpet present and on the cushions. There was also paint chipping away on the edges of the windows. The whole place could do with refurbishment.

I may return in the future if these issues are resolved since Fiona was lovely, location was excellent and there is a lot of potential but some of these issues are serious and at this stage, this probably isn't an accommodation I would recommend unfortunately, particularly because we paid £100 for a...

During our journey of the north coast 500 we pre booked a stay at the ‘Loch Broom Chalets’ on Friday the 12th of July. We arrived at the chalet around 5:30 at night, went out for dinner and came back around 8:30pm. We put on the tv and played a game of monopoly. We did have the tv volume up quite high but didn’t realise it was being heard by fellow chalets. Fiona called myself at 12:20am to say they’ve had a complaint which I rectified straight away and turned the tv right down. My partner then went outside to take a picture on the balcony, when he came back in the room we had another text from Fiona at 12:26 quoting ‘No more shouting & arguments ensure balcony door is closed. If it happens again i will call the police’. I then replied saying that was a false accusation as that was most definitely not happening in our room. I asked Fiona if she could pop down to our chalet and see we were playing a board game as it’s our only holiday of the year. Fiona refused to meet me to rectify these accusations. This is a prime example of wasting police resources!! We were not aggressive, I did not send Fiona any disrespectful text messages and there was no need for the police! My partner and I have difficulty getting time off together due to work commitments. I am appalled that we were getting threatened that the police were going to get called. Absolutely outrageous! For anyone who knows myself and grant, would know this is not us! Following these frustrating conversations myself and grant decided to just go to bed as we were walking on what felt like egg shells - not a great way to feel whilst you are on holiday. We were scared to cough, laugh or turn on the tap incase we got accused of domestic violence! Sleep was awful as it has completely ruined our night. What looked like a beautiful, cosy chalet turned into feeling like I was back at school getting treated like a child. Our check out time was 10:30am however my partner and I agreed to leave as soon as we could. Whilst my partner was loading the car he bumped into Fiona and said he wasn’t happy how we had been treated. Fiona did not give him a second to say how our experience was and was cut off by her rudely saying ‘no, no, no’ and stormed away. For this to be 1) an adult and 2) a business owner is completely appalling! The way we were treated is disrespectful, upsetting and rude. We were judged on our age and discriminated! For our generation these days should be over and we should be given the respect we deserve. Never will I be back here and I will be telling everyone I know who is doing this journey to avoid this...

My daughter and I just spent two nights in Strath pod and we loved it - the pod was very clean, comfortable and welcoming and a magnificent view of Loch Broom - we arrived during Storm Floris and the electric was down, but we were warmly welcomed and offered any help we needed - power was restored that evening so all was well - fantastic view with delightful sunsets - lovely two minute stroll to the lochside where I took the opportunity to sit and enjoy the peaceful setting - breakfasts were lovely and we were very well catered for by Fiona who was lovely and made us feel at ease. Nothing was too much bother. Second day weather improved and we enjoyed time in Ullapool only a 7 minute drive and a wee trip to Gairloch where we had a great lunch at the museum and onward round by stunning Loch Maree. I wish we had booked for longer but will definitely go back again great setting for a break away from the bustle of life. As for noise the only thing I heard was the stream which ran down the side of the field which I found very relaxing - I think the owners have put a lot of thought and hard work into making this a haven to rest and relax. Thank you for a short but very ...
