We stayed in the west side Lodge no. 4. Had a fantastic week. The lodge was well equipped with sugar. Tbags. Coffee. All kitchen items including cling film. Tin foil. Bin bags. Washing up stuff. I wasn't expecting any of that with a SC break. So was a pleasant surprise. The lodge was tastefully decorated and felt homely. A lot of the people on site were owners occupiers. The front view was on to a field with horses and sheep. The back view was a field of cows and calves. Their is a busy B road at the back which takes you to the main roads throughout the area, but the noise wasn't bad. The woman who runs and possibly owns the land the lodges are on also works in the coffee shop and is really nice. So any problems at least she is on site. The lodges have access to a nature trail around loch leven. You can turn left and follow the path around the Loch and this passes the RSPB Loch leven bird reserve. So perfect for birdwatchers. Turn right and it's more like a forest trail. It's a fabulous relaxing area. We had our dog. We had him off lead. But when we passed people we put him back on. It is recommended to have them on the lead, but it's maybe down to how well trained your dog is. There are loads of squirrels and rabbits though. 10 mins drive there is a small village and there is a local chippy. Chinese. Indian and a bakers as well as a Co op. All very nice. We had our food delivered from all of them as I couldn't be bothered to drive or cook. Our dog had serious holiday blues from this break and was off his food when we got back for a few days as he just loved the freedom. He was up at 6.30 am and sitting on the verandah watching the sheep, horses, cows and the people with their dogs passing by. He loved the trail and also there is lochore meadows country park about 10mins drive. About 15 mjns drive away is blairadam forest Park. Both places we visited every day. I highly recommend the lodges for location. Friendliness. Relaxing and getting your zen back as it is so quiet...

Traffic noise disturbs your sleep and heavy lorries shake the lodge when they pass. Need to be careful with pets and young children as only a hedge between the site and the road.|Didn't try the on-site cafe but it always looked...
Read moreStayed in lodge 13. Owner and staff are very friendly and make you feel welcome. Scenery is absolutely stunning and so peaceful. Café is quite expensive so I would recommend exploring the local villages and towns near by. Inside the lodge is the only reason for the low star rating, It was infested with spiders and nests on the ceilings, walls and floor due to not being deep cleaned properly, cobwebs on the ceilings, walls, windows and doors. There was dead insects all over the bedroom(s) blinds, Walls need repainted due to markings and dirt and the sofa needs replaced as it’s very old and neglected. Overall, I won’t be booking this lodge again but will...
