My 150th TripAdvisor review and thankfully itâs a positive one!||Busy up in Scotland on a Netflix TV production with location filming at Inveraray Castle and booked into room 11 at the Lochgair Hotel near Lochgilphead.||I rather enjoyed my stay at this rather quirky family run hotel. I couldnât fault the place for upkeep of the bedroom with en suite, beds are made daily, room hoovered, teasmade goodies replenished, toilet rolls replaced etc etc etc||Unfortunately I never got to try a cooked breakfast as I was away at 0600 every morning, but there was a selection of cereals, fruit, and yoghurts and bread for toast.||Evening meals served at the hotel are decent enough, thereâs a small selection of starters, mains and even a vegan/vegetarian option available, I had the homemade spaghetti bolognaise one evening which I really enjoyed but beware the jalapeño with cheese bites, these things are like volcanic lava.||On the whole the Lochgair hotel is what it is, a family run hotel offering warm, clean rooms with en suite and homemade food during the allocated...
Read moreDeserves much better reviews, from less fuss pots. The hotel is fantastic, as are the staff and the food is excellent and of high quality, I had the steak pie twice. It has a really nice bar with a fire and a good selection of Malts too. I was served each night by Jay, who I was very impressed with, an absolute credit to the industry, service with a smile and very attentive, keeping everything immaculate and even making up brilliant packed lunches for my forthcoming day after I was well watered that evening. The room was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed. If you like cars, speak to the owner, he has a great collection and will speak away about them. He makes a great breakfast and fresh coffee, even giving me one away as I was running late, nice to talk to and helpful. I hardly ever write a review as I am fairy neutral about places, but here I am telling you all about it, I have come away happy and it's nice to support a smaller family...
Read moreWasn't sure I wanted to write this tbh, but it is what is. I booked the room online from Inveraray because a crash at lochgair blocked the road to Kintyre both directions. Felt like the only guest. The owner, pleasant chap, told me they had no food and no staff, road blocked meant staff were stuck also. ||||So i couldt have dinner that evening. Or indeed any food, not even toast or a sandwich. He said there was no food for a cooked breakfast but told me later he found 6 eggs. I had eggs and toast for breakfast. I had the feeling he was encouraging me not to have breakfast telling me residents the week before had taken packed lunches as they were workmen. Perhaps he just dint want to get up. ||||Room was clean and quiet, cant fault the environment but it felt to.me no real effort was made to offer me choice of food or indeed in the...
