Well where do I start ? Decided to try something new and go with my daughter and two grandkids for 4 nights to the hearts based at Coniston. Was told couldn’t get in the yurt until 4pm but states on website 3pm as wanted to make extra checks due to opening up after lockdown. We actually arrived at 5 and went to farmhouse to get key, Louise greeted us and told us where to find the yeart but would have been nice to have been shown ‘ facilities’ if you can call them that . Probably would have turned around and left if had! Very very basic, like literally two curtains with a pipe and a small shower head that the water dribbled out from and had to keep pressing to stay on long enough to shower. Men’s showers was literally in the other side of a metal wall ?? Two toilets for the ladies and two for the men for the whole site which can I say was situated right next to the campers with tents , no hand sanitizer anywhere . Dogs belonging to the farm looked scrufffy and kept hanging around the yurt probably looking for food. 5 yurts in a field and ours was the one on the hill which wasn’t good for my daughter who has back problems . A portaloo was the nearest toilet for us but I refused to use it as no where to wash hands so had to keep my legs crossed until the morning and then queue for the main toilets. The area to dispose of rubbish was disgusting full or flies and obviously not removed regularly!! Were told we could use their freezer to freeze the packs for cool box so found the chest freezer next to the barn where states can use, put 12 in and returned the next day and only 2 left so obviously other campers helped themselves so we had to throw a lot of food away which made our visit more expensive and also because we kept water bottles in there . Weather was 28degrees most days so was hard not to have cold water to drink. The yurt was basic definitely not luxury I actually cleaned it before I left. Also the barbecue out the back was dirty so had to clean that aswell which put me off using it. Even though the yurt was a base for us to visit different parts of the lakes it still wasn’t an enjoyable experience even for the kids. We actually left a day early as walking up and down the hill and the trek to the ‘facilities’ was too much for my daughter . Louise was not hands on if she was in charge of the site, I just feel like it didn’t have the personal touch and definitely would not stay on that particular site again !! Not really Covid friendly I didn’t see any sanitizer only a hand wash next to the one basin for...
Read moreIn response to the previous review left by David Collins; Our policy states very clearly in our terms and conditions of booking that we absolutely do not accept hen/stag/large single sex groups at any of our sites. All groups staying with us of over four persons are sent an additional message prior to their stay with us in relation specifically to noise and the our/the NT policy towards this. We charge a sureties deposit and make it very clear that any guests not adhering to these terms of booking will asked to leave the site forfeiting their sureties and the remainder of their stay. In accordance with our terms and conditions these guests were asked to leave the site that morning.
We can't vet guests upon booking but do our very best prior to any guests staying to make our/the NT position very clear. We also sadly can't control the inconsiderate behaviour of guests upon site once there.
We take issues of noise very seriously and have a zero tolerance policy to this. We felt it important to make our position on this clear on Google Reviews as there is no recourse within the system to do so other than post.

Read moreBeautiful yurts, huge space. Perfect for a couple, or family with two kids maybe. Two hob gas stove, which was brilliant. All the pots, pans, dishes and everything included. A few things to bear in mind. The beds are very firm, basic couch bed mattresses. When it rains it is LOUD, banging on the top of the yurt. The yurts are really great, although we had a slow leak in ours which was reported to the farm owners at the time. The fire mechanisms were really stiff, took a lot to open the yurt fire door! They give you some free wood to start you off, however the kind we had so too big for the yurt fire! Perfect for the hot tub though. They only give you logs and firelighters, no kindling. Luckily we had some, having a...
