Impressive on arrival. Looked spacious and cosy. Had a wood burning stove open plan, two comfy sofas a well presented kitchen and smart bedding two bedrooms one with door onto decking area leading to hot tub. Close to other lodges but not in immediate vicinity. Unfortunately both showers (walk in) were mouldy round the seals and silicone which looked unsightly. Towels a bit crispy. Little sliver of soap. Kitchen well stocked. Toffee pudding and a bottle of of milk in fridge. Clean but needs sprucing up a bit. Radiators rusty and marks on walls. Scuff marks and such. Microwave dishwasher and washing machine. There is a folder full of info. How to light fire, nearest shops and cafes etc etc. with lots of instructions on dos and donts ! As there were no logs. Had to ring a local to deliver some. We ordered a weekend pack which cost us £13 but was a big bundle. Lit the fire the next morning and within two hours was so hot had to open all the doors Did nt put heating on all weekend ,,, ||Bed firm but ok. No top sheet. Storage space in form of a wardrobe in each room. Bathrooms small but ok. Sinks badly cracked. Tiles needed replacing and seals of showers need attention. There was dishwasher tablets washing up liquid and a sponge. Plenty of mugs cups pans cutlery etc. warm and comfortable except the reclining sofa doesn’t work. As handle broken and doesn’t recline unfortunately. Tv ok as good wifi signal. Info plenty. They text three times with info as there is no reception. However when I rang them twice no one answered. ||Could see neighbours in their hot tub so not totally private. Place is light and airy with plenty of greenery and birds. Quiet and peaceful mainly apart from noisy lads next door playing loud music but turned it off after an hour or so. ||Reasonable priced. Luxury ??? I’m not sure about that but pleasant enough.||Don’t think would go out of our way to stay...
Read moreWent to Meadows end lodges 11th of August and stayed in the Romney lodge, 1st thing I'd like to say is the area is beautiful and Cartmel village is a lovely friendly village with lovely pubs and restaurants but unfortunately this is where it all changes !!! I wouldn't say the lodge is pet friendly with gaps in the fences which basically look like Pallets, the decor is really dated inside so needs updating, on our arrival on the Monday we noticed a damp musky smell so we just thought open the windows and doors and it will go but it didn't, so I messaged Rachel who I dealing with and told her about the issue so she came around 8ish the same evening but said she couldn't smell anything so she got us some air fresheners and to let her know in the morning, but the smell was still there in the morning so the Maintenance lads came round and they couldn't smell anything so we went out for the day and then when we returned the smell was still there so then again I reported the issue and low and behold there was a problem with one of the pipes underneath which they sorted but I just got the impression that i was a hindrance and they didn't believe me which was really disappointing, I phoned up Hoseasons last Friday complaining about the issue but have had no reply so really not happy and would definitely not stay in Meadows End...
Read moreWe arrived on Friday 11th for our first break in 13 years. We immediately felt like Shaun lodge was going to be a home away from home. I had booked the romantic package which meant my wife was greeted with the most beautiful bunch of flowers(from a local florist), a box of locally handmade chocolates and a bottle of champagne. With a log fire the lodge is certainly very cosy of an evening. Central heating provides that little boost needed to take the chill out of the air. The kitchen had everything needed to make cooking a simple task. The lodge is spacious with thought given to furniture arrangement.
The hot tub is well maintained throughout the stay, the bath robes and slippers made available for hire (£12 per person, booked in advance) were a welcome addition to our stay and made getting out of the hot tub a more pleasant experience in the poorer weather.
The only bad points we had and to be honest this is just nitpicking at this point , were the shower screen needs to be extended slightly or a sliding door added as the floor outside the shower becomes very slippy even with the bath mat. And we also thought the addition of a tv in the bedroom would of completed this...
