From the second we arrived we knew we had made the right choice to stay here. Wow. Spent a week camping with 3 young children. Upon arrival we were greeted by Neil who gave us a warm welcome.||Pitch - Large grass pitch which was nice and flat and excellent location. Every pitch was a nice pitch. With electric was easy to locate and plug in.||Facilities - perfect. Clean and warm showers, clean toilets and sinks etc.|Electric charge for cars.|Borrow box for items to use such as bucket and spade for the beach.|Recycle bags avaliable to ensure you can recycle your rubbish which was a great touch.|Washing up facilities were great and there is a washing and tumble machine. The pop up local food and drink vendors was a nice touch as Sunday morning I had a delicious coffee from a pop up vendor. ||The site - the site is perfect size for families.|The chickens and pigs were gorgeous. The fields nearby to explore and walk around. The walk down to the lake was lovely as was the fishing lake. beautiful for the summer evenings.|The play area was popular with the kids.||Staff - Neil and his lovely wife were amazing. So kind and patient with my kids consistently popping into the shop.|They made us feel so welcome throughout our stay. ||The location is perfect - ideal for visiting all of Cornwall. St Ives was 30 mins away, Holywell was the same, St Michaels Mount 50 mins away.|It's also so peaceful.|This site has everything you need and the price was amazing.|We had a 1 week stay camping with electric with our 3 children and enjoyed every minute of it.||So if you are looking for a clean, safe, small site nearby to many places including towns, beaches but rural so you enjoy peaceful evenings around a camp fire safely knowing that your kids are safe playing around the site and you enjoy using clean warm facilities and don't want to pay and arm and leg for "summer holiday" prices - I cannot recommend this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had a lovely stay at Mena farm. Welcomong, relaxed and friendly. My son especially loved feeding the pigs with Ali (one of the owners), visiting the chickens, and he loved the fact that the pitches were around the edges of a field, with a play area in the centre, meaning he could play independently whilst I was preparing dinner etc, as he was always visible. There are other pitches available in fields that are away from the play area for those that want it, but this set up was perfect for us. Lovely views and a more 'isolated' feel in the wild camping fields, with a lovely little fishing pond at the bottom. ||We stayed in one of the bell tents, 'Poppy' and even without an electric pitch, the solar panel and Jackery system kept our devices fully charged for the duration of our stay, and if the battery runs low they will happily replace it for a fully charged one for you. ||The bell tents were nicely presented, with external and internal lights. All had a wooden picnic table and firepit provided, together with a single ring gas camping stove, a butane canister (we had 2 but didn't quite use one) and all cooking equipment and crockery/cutlery. A washing up bowl, washing up liquid, wash cloth and tea towel were also included, and a cool box, water carrier and freezer packs were available at no cost too. The tent and wider facilities were clean and well tended. ||The price was very good compared to others we had seen, and we liked that there wasn't a minimum 3 night stay (I think it was minimum 2 night in summer, though we opted for 3). It is also a good location for day trips around Cornwall. We were only there for 3 nights, but enjoyed Dicovering42, The Eden project and Lanhydrock, which were between 8 minutes and 20 minutes away., and kept us fully occupied while we were there. ||Thank you for a lovely stay, we'll definitely come back again (and we'll book...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe booked Mena Farm for 2 nights camping in our camper van with awning. We chose an all weather gravel pitch with electric hook up. Finding Mena Farm is very easy, it's near Lanhydrock. On arrival we were greeted by Neil, pointed to our pitch (pitch 7) and given a map of the farm. The site is small by relative terms with other campsites so everything was in easy reach.||Shower block had been recently upgraded and the toilets and showers were all nice and new - and well maintained. Like you'd expect at most campsites, the showers start off cold and need a few moments to warm up... but once warm the showers were very nice, warm, and refreshing. Hairdryer is 20p to use so bring some coins!||There's a separate building for washing up and laundry, and a separate area again for waste and recycling.||Entry to/from the campsite is via a gate which is locked out of hours, you're given the access code when you check in.||Site has free wifi which was a nice unexpected bonus... wifi seemed stable and we were able to stream a couple of episodes of Tenable on our ipad without any problems.||The farm is high up on the landscape, and it did get a bit windy the 2 nights we stayed. The views are quite stunning and of an evening with a very starry sky we relaxed watching the world pass by!||There is a terrific fish and chip shop (Welcome Stranger) in the nearby village of Lanivet, and there's also a Spar supermarket and pub there too... literally 5 minutes drive, plus Mena Farm is convenient for visiting Lanhydrock, which is just down the road, or other parts of the South Cornish coast (Fowey is about 25 minutes away for example). All very convenient.||Overall a nice campsite, relaxed atmosphere, good layout, good facilities and one I would...
