We recently stayed at Ruskin's View Cottage in Kirkby Lonsdale - what an amazing place. I can't recommend it highly enough, the location is just perfect - right in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale, but the added bonus being that you can park securely behind electric gates and walk, shop, drink and eat without worrying about parking. There is a village shop a mere stones throw away which is very well stocked and in the village you will find an award winning butcher, amazing bakeries and a fantastic market on a Thursday where you can buy produce, gorgeous locally made items .. and have a hog roast for lunch!
When we arrived at the cottage, there was a beautiful welcome basket stocked with bread, butter, crisps, local beer, biscuits - and even a beautiful handmade cake! - oh and a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge. The cottage is stunning, has everything you will need for your stay - and things you thought you wouldn't need such as hot water bottles, dressing gowns and fans in the rooms. There is a smart TV so we were able to watch movies in the evenings and catch up with some box sets. We did use the hot tub which is conveniently located just outside the lounge doors. There was plenty of storage downstairs to tuck everything away. We loved the kitchen which had high quality oven, dish washer, fridge freezer and washing machine if needed.
The cottage backs on to the Church which is where the Ruskins View monument is - along with the Radical Steps that lead down to the river - which is a lovely walk. Our friends have already booked the cottage for next year .. and we would definitely return. The Owners are available next door if needed, but leave you to enjoy your holiday. We can recommend the Kings Arms for Sunday Lunch and Avanti do a...
Read moreA 5 star rating from us to match 5 star accommodation. We absolutely loved our stay at the Pavillion. Julie and Steve were amazing during Covid times, not taking a payment until we were absolutely sure we could stay. Once there we were not disappointed as the accommodation looks exactly like the photos on the website and was beautiful and cosy in the October break we chose to stay there for. The hot tub and log burner were amazing and we felt completely comfortable and relaxed. We could socially distance as much as we wanted/needed to and the local pub (Lunesdale) was hot on social distancing which made us feel very safe whilst having our meals. My only gripe would be that although everything in the Pavillion was of high quality, the frying pan was not and everything stuck to it. Such a small thing to moan about though! We have already recommended Mill House Cottages to family and friends. Fabulous business Julie, Steve and...
Read morePerfect week in perfect location! From communication to location, cleanliness and comfort we could not fault. The owners Stephen and Julie clearly take a lot of pride in their business and if they can do anything to make your stay better they will. We asked to use a BBQ, and after being offered the choice of charcoal or gas had it quickly delivered to our garden with tools too. We met housekeeping staff too, everyone seeming happy and invested in the business and your stay. They don’t intrude in your stay whatsoever but are equally available should you need anything. The view is really the selling point, although the cottage is beautifully appointed. Can’t wait...
