We had a brilliant week at Myrtle farm, up until our last night. The facilities are spotless, the cleaners were sitting in the showers cleaning with a toothbrush! Lovely large pitches although the electric is placed in the middle of the pitch so you do loose a fair bit of usable space. There is a road right next to the campsite and it is very noisy, this can’t be helped but be aware. There’s plenty of space for kids to play and feel safe. Sadly we left on a downer as the owner was incredibly rude to us. There was heavy rain over night, what we didn’t realise was our pitches flood! When we arrived the pitches had not been given any rest and were muddy and slippery. We set up and made every effort to dry out our pitch. In the middle of the night the water in our tent was at least 4 inches deep, we had to move our 3 and 6 year olds to the car and try to get some sleep. When I saw the owner the next morning I asked why she hadn’t let us know the pitches flood we could have packed up and saved our tent. She told me her fields never flood! My 6 year old said we had to sleep in the car… the reply from her “oh shame” I had to walk away as it was early I’d had no sleep and had to work out how to salvage my tent from the lake it was now pitched in! At no point were we or neighbours pitches asked if we were ok, or offered any kind of sympathy for our sleepless night and destroyed soaked tents and equipment. The owner swore blind that her pitches don’t flood, even when I made her walk over to take a look as she’d not bothered to see the state of her pitch. She shouted at us, refused to listen, said “why should I talk to your children” when I said you couldn’t even apologise to our daughter for having to sleep in the car. These things happen, the owner is not to blame for the rain, however poor land management and people skills are shocking! Stop flipping pitches so quickly and allow them to breathe and dry. A simple are you ok and I’m really sorry would have gone a long way when we’d had a sleepless night, and soaked through but sadly that is not what you will receive here! She told me she thought we’d just leave our tents to her to deal with as that’s the jist she got from us! We packed everything away to try to salvage, we would never just abandon our tent and I found the way she spoke incredibly offensive and judgmental! It is sad as we had enjoyed our stay prior to this but will not return or recommend this site, it’s great as long as you don’t have a problem. If you do decide to go ask to avoid pitches 20 & 21 as these are the pitches that flood

We stayed here in June 2023 and this site was lovely. The people who run this site take much care and work hard and it shows. On arrival we rang Diane as requested on booking process and she went through our stay and show us around. We had an extra large pitch with electric and awning which was £33 a night. Oh and it was huge! We had ample space. Pitches are set out on a few fields one for tents and non electric and other for hook up caravan and campers at least that Is what I assumed. There was a doggy field where they can run about and play and also the site is pretty flat. There's no shop in walking distance but there is a Morriston, sainsburys, tesco and aldi 8 minutes drive away. There was a fabulous toilet and shower block with accessible toilets for disabled, male and female. Each with vanity mirror and hair dryer. Exceptional standard and clean. There was also a block that had washing machines and tumble dryers to use at a price and fridge freezers to use during your stay which I've never seen before. There is chemical and grey water disposal and a washing up area again good standard. One good thing that I thought was great was that there were fire pins and BBQs available to use free of charge! Although you could only use these on of the fields due to fire safety. The site is close to Weston-super-Mare, wookey hole and caves, cheddar gorge, wells, Glastonbury and Bath. Lots to discover. The downsides, which they're aren't really any but are worth considering are that there is a constant humming of the M5 motorway but it didn't bother us. Also another thing is that campfires must alway be put at 10pm which I think is reasonable. There are no hardstanding pitches so if weather is bad then I can imagine that it would get quite boggy. There are a few beaches close by Weston-super-Mare being the closest we found, nice to have a walk on but the sea on this stretch of coastline is polluted and swimming is not advised due to this also mudflats and sinking sands. This was a bit disappointing for me but if you're willing to drive then North Devonshire beaches are ideal. I will say we will definitely be returning to Myrtle Farm, thank you for a lovely stay. Best site we've been on and we've been to a few over the years!

Location isn’t great. Not walking distance to anywhere, amenities or pubs/restaurants etc. we knew this when booking, but good to let others know. If you are in the large field the road is very noisy and very busy. Neighbours spent all afternoon/evening riding quads around the field next door for the entire week. I had videos but Google won’t let me upload videos. If you enjoy your fire pits then don’t bother here, they have to be extinguished with water by 10pm and the owner patrols the site with a torch making sure they are out. Something to do with insurance, but never experienced this in 30 years of camping. Water points are up by the toilet block so if you are at the bottom of the field it’s not close. The toilet block are modern and constantly cleaned, pitches are huge and the site is very well kept and clean. If you want a base to use to drive around to surrounding towns and villages and do not mind a bit of noise then it’s perfect. If you want things to walk, peace and quiet and enjoy a fire pit with friends or family then look elsewhere.

Unfortunately the site manager does not like noise from anyone. That being in the day or at night. She would come at 10 on the dot stay around you until you extinguish your bbq with water. If you're still talking amongst yourselves you will be told to stop as its supposed to be quiet hours. We we're unaware that quiet hours would mean turn in for the night. Then we were shocked at not even 7pm that we would be told to keep it down as we were apparently talking over our own music. She said she dont take groups of 4 but did anyway and kept saying that us like she done us a favor. My friends have camped for years and years and have plenty of videos of being able to have some music on having a singalong and talking at these sites but this was the first time that they were given an ultimatum to either keep quiet or go. Then after half an hour of discussing between ourselves about the situation and to return to her with an solution of if the group wanted to go or stay quiet we were already given the decision by the site manager to leave first thing. This was my first camping and I've never experienced such bad manners, unfortunately the lady doesn't have well manners to speak to groups which obviously made everyone upset. The websites description isnt detailed enough to avoid the problem we had this weekend. We were full of anxiety of whether we could be heard whispering or not. All of us couldn't hear anyone talking from the toilets and our tent were right by them. Everyone we bumped into were very friendly talkative to us and not once did we here anyone talk bad about us. After a number of conversations with the site manager she specifically said that her site is not for music dancing and having a laugh but for peace, for those who will sit in the deck chairs quietly talking amongst themselves while the kids play Frisby and ride their bikes in circles. We could hear many other people talking loud as to which she said she had also told them to keep it down. Camping is to be enjoyable and free of antisocial behaviour but unfortunately we felt completely harassed all the way up until we left. My 3 year old son was so disappointed that his first holiday had been cut short with only 2 days and 2 nights instead of 4.

The place is really clean and well kept throughout with them having a good cleaning routine morning and night. Though there should be left time between campers to care better for the ground and it was desperately in need of water. There are huge cracks throughout the field and unfortunately makes it hazardous to walk. In the bathroom clothes hangers behind the bathroom doors are all rusty and need to be changed to bamboo or of some sort of humidity friendly material. The hanging basket on the shower itself still had dry soap gunge/mould that made me heave and left me with nowhere to put my body sponge. The ladies shower heads are fixed to the shower pole so washing your children is difficult and the body soap which seems to be the same as the hand soap really stings your eyes and that for younger children. My eyes felt dry and sore for a couple of hrs after. When looking up I realised the 2 extractor fans on the ceiling are completely full of thick dust and I could see when the sun was shining through that the dust was being spread through the bathroom, leading me and my little one to sneeze up until leaving. Which wasn't just us as every time I'd gone for shower and toilet there was always someone else sneezing. And some of the toilet doors don't lock properly. Also I noticed that on the slope into the kitchen there is a loose slab which I found quiet hazardous especially for those like myself with mobility problems. Again many have mentioned the road being very loud just behind field 1, though this is not the managers fault this doesn't take away the issue for many who can't sleep over that side. So all in all if you're a family who keep to themselves, children are well tamed and want to be in bed by 10pm then this is a perfect space for you.

For myself and my family we were extremely...

Mixed feelings about the site.

I very rarely write reviews except when I find the owners rude. No matter how good or bad a site. Because I am on holiday. My quality time with the family.

New shower block and the floor kept clean and loo roll kept stocked.

Clean pot washing up area.

Fridge and microwave available.

Lots of leaflets for days out in the area.

Washing machine charged at £3 for 30 minutes with a basic wash cycle at an hour and half! Ouch

However.

No night time cut off for noise so not great when it's gone 11pm and you are trying to get little ones to sleep.

Need to obtain better software for the booking system which therefore we were charged additionally when we arrived with teenagers, even though we had declared their ages! We would have been charged less paying by pitchup than we did by booking direct!!! She wouldn't match the price of her own site. Therefore charged £30 over the odds!

Don't come with teenagers because you will be charged adult rates for them and no additional facilities provided. When we politely questioned this the owner walked away saying that we had upset her. Very rude of her! And not how to deal with customers! Actually we were the ones upset being requested to pay up extra for children of 13 years!

Please note that this is a very basic campsite for children.

No baby changing facilities in the ladies toilet block.

The sink area was always wet. This can be improved by adding shelves so your belongings don't get wet.

2 of the shower doors wouldn't close fully in the ladies as the doors swelled in the heat. One door handle was broken.

It's a prompt 10am kick off site. You will get hassled off site. Not great when packing away tents with morning dew.

One field is horrendously noisy from the road.

Some electric pitches you will need an extra extra extra long electric extension. We watched 7 different families be moved during a 5 night stay from 2 pitches due to this reason!

Dogs running wild around the site fighting each other which scared our children. When there is a specific area for them fenced off.

Our children loved watching the field mice run round our pitch however the next family on were not so keen!

The bin area although very nicely done it is lacking in signage for its recycling. Tiny tiny little writing on the lids which is hard to see in this non lit area. Please sort this out it only needs a bit of effort!

The clean drinking water hose end was dangling in the mud, yuck! Basics!!! ...
