St Dolmen Loft Apartment – Beautiful Setting, But Be Mindful of the Space||We recently stayed in the St Dolmen loft apartment at North Farm Cottages. The location is absolutely stunning—perfect for exploring the surrounding countryside, and the views from the apartment were genuinely breathtaking.||The apartment itself was clean, modern, and thoughtfully presented. We appreciated the welcome touches like fresh milk, butter, and orange juice in the fridge. However, it’s important to note that the space is extremely limited. Being in the roof space, the ceiling height is very restricted—I’m not particularly tall, but I could only stand upright in the central section and unfortunately bumped my head several times during our stay.||The kitchen setup was also quite minimal, with just a two-ring hob and microwave. If you're planning to cook, this might be a limitation worth considering. The TV was basic and lacked streaming apps like Netflix, and its placement made viewing awkward. A simple hinged bracket could improve this, but ideally, the TV itself could do with an upgrade to suit modern media habits.||Overall, while the apartment is in a lovely spot and has some charming features, I feel the listing should be clearer about the spatial constraints and limited amenities. For us, the lack of comfort and practicality means we’re...
Read moreI have been to Long Cart Cottage twice as my mum is disabled and it caters for this. I also have had family and friends stay as it caters for 5 people. North Farm Cottages is a bit of Northumberland paradise. The self catering cottages are modern, clean. They also have small gardens and one or two, a spa. The cottages can cater between 2 - 12 people. There is now a swimming pool, and is a small area for children, and a lovely pond area with wild fowl. About a one mile walk through the owners land (mowed path) to the beautiful Embleton beach which one can hire the hut and contents for the day. Towards one of the bay is Dunstanburgh Castle and Craster and Low Newton at the other end of the bay with its own fabulous dining pub, and the original white cottages in a square. This area is rich in its castles and North Farm Cottages is situated on the original blue print of the farm, and the original owners son has developed this lovely area into a small community even though you are "out in the sticks". One day I will return! The owner is pleasant, accommodating your needs, and he gave me some eggs on one occasion. Outside Long Cart Cottage is a lovely wooden bench dedicated to the owners mum and dad (Farmers), and it is a wonderful position to sit there overlooking towards the sea and...

The whole compound looks brand new, it’s clean and tidy everywhere and just beautifully build within old farm buildings, granery etc. The apartment was top notch, the bathroom truly luxurious, the view over the fields to the sea and Duncaster Castle stunning. They have a public swimming pool and some houses even have private jacuzzis. Everything was what you want except from a luxury holyday home. But what made it special for me was there eye for the detail: on arrival there was a loaf of bread and some butter, fresh milk & orange juice, all locally sourced, as well as coffee, tea and sugar already provided. Especially on late arrivals that’s such a plus and was an unexpected surprise. Well done North Farm Cottages! Over all a great experience. The whole compound is very kids and family friendly, loads of room to play and roam freely for your little ones but still very quiet at night. At last: yes, St Dolmen Apartment IS A ROOF TOP ROOM WITH SLOPING ROOFS. I am 1.79m (5‘‘8ish) and had no real trouble with it, to be honest and unless you are really big or really drunk you shouldn’t have either. However, the stairs leading to the apartment ar pretty steep and there’s...
