Hotel is very dated, horrible smells as you go to your rooms! All sorts of Staines on the carpet, bed is uncomfortable didn’t dare try the food after seeing the state of the place. Will not be returning.

This is a wonderful venue for any celebration, however, a little more effort could have been made to clear ice and compacted snow from the entrance and carpark.

We stayed here in March for a family 60th birthday celebration. I’m only writing this review now because we recently stayed elsewhere and had a fantastic experience, which reminded me how poor this one was.||||We originally booked for 3 nights but only stayed for 1 because the state of the hotel was simply unbearable. We would have left sooner if we hadn’t had family already en route and no time to change plans.||||When we arrived (admittedly 45 minutes early), there was no one to greet us (not a major issue) but the first thing we noticed was a leak from the ceiling with no wet floor sign, grubby carpets that clearly hadn’t been cleaned, and a strong unpleasant smell as soon as we walked in.||||The rooms were extremely disappointing:||Filthy carpets with stains||Broken furniture (our wardrobe was falling apart)||Non-working radiators (not a problem in March, but would be in winter)||Bathrooms in poor condition||One room had no working shower, which seemed to be linked to the leak downstairs – an issue that clearly hadn’t been fixed for some time.||||We had most of the rooms booked, and unfortunately they were all in a similar state.||||We had paid for a buffet (£12pp when booked, but £15pp on arrival). It was basic but edible, so we made the best of it and still had a nice evening together as a family.||||The next morning things got worse, nothing had been cleaned from the night before. There was food all over the carpets during breakfast service, which felt very unhygienic. My toast was mouldy, so I didn’t eat. Breakfast was painfully slow, likely due to being understaffed.||||At that point, we decided to spend the day finding alternative accommodation for everyone (including our dog), packed up, and left.||||We couldn’t find anyone at the hotel to inform them in person, so I sent an email. I requested a refund for the two nights we didn’t stay. After a lot of back and forth, we eventually received a partial refund. We were even asked to remove our review from Booking.com, but we left it up as this was an honest reflection of our experience.||||This hotel is badly in need of investment and refurbishment. The plumbing issues, unhygienic carpets, and overall condition could not have been fixed during our stay. We are not overly picky people, just looking for a clean and comfortable stay, but this was neither safe nor hygienic.||||Hopefully, these issues have been resolved since our visit. I’m sorry to leave such a negative review, but I feel it’s important to share our experience so others can make an...

APPALLING! Start with the outside: very overgrown, hasn't seen a gardener in a while, pot holes everywhere so ladies watch out for your shoes as you gingerly make your way to the front door. No front desk as such so if no one is there to greet you, which was the case for us, you have to shout 'hello' a few times hoping that someone will hear you. First thing they want you to do is pay for the room, we understood why later on. We had 2 rooms and needed to get ready for a party we were going to. The carpet in both rooms was very dirty and stained, the decor dated, the room freezing. My daughter went to start the shower in her room and quickly realise that: 1- it wouldn't turn on easily, 2- when they managed it, there was no pressure, 3- there was no hot water, 4- very difficult to turn off, had to get help from the guy behind the bar. I was below in the lounge area and could hear drip, drip so went to investigate and realised that just below my daughter's bedroom, the ceiling was collapsing and water dripping down onto sofas and carpet. Clearly that shower was a problem and not a new one, it doesn't take 5 minutes for the ceiling to be so full of water it collapses. My daughter had to come to our room for a shower. The guy behind the bar didn't look too surprised, was trying to get help on the phone from the owner but didn't get through, apparently. We said we would expect some sort of compensation to which he replied he would do his best, non committal. The next day the owner was there, at first pretending he didn't know anything about it then kept saying that my daughter did get her shower so had nothing to complain about. She did have a shower, in OUR room, not in the one that she paid for! He wouldn't recognise that, very thick headed person. Needless to say there was no compensation to be had and he was so obnoxious, we didn't want to stay and argue. Crux of the matter is we DO NOT RECOMMEND this hotel, STAY AWAY and find a much better place to stay at which there are plenty of...

I am sorry to write this as the staff were lovely and the cooked breakfast was freshly prepared and very nice with cereal, orange juice and plenty of coffee. Waitress was lovely. The bedding and bath towels were clean. That's were the positives end.||Our family room had one large bed and 2 singles. The singles were just mattresses on the floor! Couldn't believe it.||The carpet was extremely smelly and dirty and with the matress just sat on top of the carpet made for a very unpleasant sleepless night. ||I kept my socks on the whole stay as the carpet was so disgusting in the room I shuddered at the idea of walking barefoot on it.||Heating was provided by 2 plug in radiators. ||The bathroom was huge but very tired and shabby with no heating. Hubby wheeled in the unplugged radiator to try and provide some heat. I recently had a knee replacement and the bath was very slippy with no bathmat or handrail. I just about managed but more infirm people would find this impossible. I used the shower over bath and there was hot water thank goodness.||Breakfast was very nice but we were seated on high bar stools. As I'm quite short didn't feel safe on it and couldn't pull myself up to the table properly. The bar table was not wide enough to hold our plates so they dangled off the end! Our toast had to be placed on a different table as there was no room. We were the only people eating breakfast there and there were normal tables and chairs available so couldn't understand why we had been seated there.||When we arrived the porch to front of hotel was awful. Dirty and with debris, muck and dust no excuse just needs a good clean.||Would never stay here again I'm sad to say mainly due to the state...
