Absolutely mind blown!!!
We stayed with you guys at the end of March for my mums wedding as part of a party who booked out all of the cottages. My mum, and now step dad, have been to stay at Old Oak Cottages a hand full of times and I can see why they wanted to come back and stay for their special day!!
Firstly, we were situated in Squirrel cottage, and wow oh wow, what a BEAUTIFUL view over the fields (and also waking up to the lovely sound of baby lambs, as it was lambing season). The views stretch for miles!
Secondly, the cleanliness of the properties was emaculate!! As a cleaner by profession myself, I could not find ANYTHING cleanliness wise, that would raise an eyebrow!! So whoever cleans the cottages, needs a massive pat on the back!!
Thirdly, as a mother of a 5 year old, and the only child at the wedding, I was concerned as to how me and hubby would be able to entertain our son. Along with the owner (a lovely gentleman who I've forgotten his name, apologies) letting us go round to the lambing shed (obviously from a distance), and let us see the lambs and their mothers, the chickens who roam the grounds, goat, pony and the small field with a trampoline, climbing frame and slide. He was definitely entertained for the duration of our stay!
Finally, as I said above, we booked out all the cottages for our party. The owners were so accommodating as to moving tables around outside for the buffet we had as a reception. We even got back to balloons and the tables already made up for us!
Both me and hubby have already said we will definitely be back for a holiday with you guys when we can!!
Thank you so much again!!

Read moreOld Oak Cottages were recommended by a family who I happened to meet while I was at work - word of mouth is a great indicator. Brilliant directions were given with our booking details and these led us along a delightful drive surrounded by open fields and wandering chickens - beautiful.|The cottage was immaculate, comfortable, cosy and was well equipped. A generous and well thought out welcome hamper was a lovely surprise especially the marmalade which was delicious! Even the dog had a little jar of her own dog treats along with a towel, throw and bowls all perfectly clean. The enclosed patio outside the cottage door, which faced The White Horse at Kilburn, was perfect for letting the dog out and letting her sit outside for her own style of downtime - listening out for birds.|We all enjoyed the pool which was just a few steps away from the entrance door to the courtyard. Having your own personal time to use the pool as well as a communal time was perfect. We would all have liked to use the sauna but unfortunately it wasn't working while we were there - it certainly didn't spoil our enjoyment.|With so many places to visit nearby the cottages are a great base. We visited Yorkshire Outdoors for clay pigeon shooting and quad biking, Rivleaux Abby and Helmsley Castle. Had a muddy adventure walk to The Forrester's Arms at Kilburn and short drives to The Fauconberg at Coxwold and The Greyhound at Bagby - all thoroughly recommended.|Thank-you Old Oak Cottages we have made wonderful memories...
Read moreThis is an amazing place. John and Amanda are the perfect hosts and are always there if you need anything. We stayed in Owl cottage, which was comfortable, a real home from home, with everything you could possibly need.||Each room is immaculate and decorated to a very high, yet cosy, degree. The bedsheets are of the highest quality Egyptian cotton. The bath tub was massive and you could have a really good soak. To top the accommodation off there is a private heated swimming pool which we took advantage of almost every day.||The cottages are in the perfect location. You feel as if you’re in the middle of the countryside surrounded by beauty, and yet Thirsk village it’s just 4 miles away where they have a Tesco’s and Lidl are co-op and several small independent shops and restaurants. You’re a stones throw from several major towns including York and Ripon. I highly recommend the steam train from Pickering to Whitby. ||If you’re looking for a cottage to stay at any time of year I would recommend Old oak cottages.||We...
