We arrived at approx 17.00 - I'd previously written to Sue and Johnny explaining about my hypersensitivities- paet of my Fibromyalgia and that we would bring all of our own bedding/pillows etc as we use Fragrance free products.|Pulling up at the front door to unload we were met with - you can't park there park over there - I explained we are disabled and had a lot to unpack!|John moved the car to beside the huge yellow painted rock with CAR PARK written on it.|How to win friends and influence people came to mind as to the way we were greeted not 'paying' guests!!|Sue was very understanding and cleaned the room without using anything with an odour and left the mattress bare as we'd asked.|No kettle in room - very difficult for us to either have a coffee/tea or hot water any time we felt like it.|I was up often overnight due to another condition and could have murderd a coffee on a couple of occasions.|But if we wanted coffee it necessitated us going into the lobby to make it there. We always have our own cafetiere and coffee beans and lactofree milk with us - and would have made a flask of coffee and tea for the journey today.|We had an early night and were up early for our pre booked breakfast at 7.00 am however I was not able to leave the room for breakfast - John went to the dining room and asked if possible could I have mine on a tray and straight away Johnny took Uxbridge ' we don't do things like that here' this necessitated in John having to explain another one of my conditions - he was very embarrassed - on hearing this Sue kindly made me up a tray of breakfast - of course I would have enjoyed breakfast with John at the dining table.|Johnny cooked breakfast and disappeared to his 'much discussed computer' noted in his blog.|If the weather had been nice we would have enjoyed breakfast outside on the slippy deck - with a tiny slate stating - be careful of deck when wet - surely a smaller bright yellow rock with the information on would have been easier to see.|Sue was the perfect hostess - and was very understanding about my requirements - it's a very stressful business going on holiday and I always make sure f my requirements on booking.|An experience spoilt which we had been looking forward to for a while.|Johnny please greet people with courtesy to welcome them not just open the door and yell at them - we could have been mystery guests assessing for ratings or...
Read moreIf you are looking for a stop over on the way to the Kennacraig ferry then look no further. Powdermills is great accommodation (offering 3 x ensuite bedrooms) and you won't be disappointed. ||Situated on the edge of Furnace this beautiful house is set in its own grounds (with ruins of the powder mill), is modern in style and offers an open guest lounge. Sue and Johnny are great hosts and provide fresh, home made cake and tea/coffee, upon arrival, to make you feel at home straight away.||The bedrooms are spacious and look out onto a large lawned area.||The choice for breakfast is on a whole new level (compared to anything that we've ever experienced at a B&B) and I'd recommended that you opt out of cereals to make room for the large and tasty cooked breakfast that is about to be delivered to you.||Traveling:|As far as dinner is concerned, Inveraray is only 10 minutes up the road. Kennacraig ferry port is about 45-60 minutes away.||This isn't the cheapest accommodation in the world but this is very much a case of 'you get what you pay...
Read moreWhere to begin? My husband and I spent last night and tonight here. It has been the most wonderful experience. The hosts have gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome and comfortable in their beautiful establishment. We are in the Campbell room with a kingsize bed and en suite with a shower and bath. This large room is furnished tastefully and has a double aspect overlooking sweeping lawns to the loch. All the linen and towels are pristine and fresh. From being greeted with tea and home made cake (yum!) on arrival to the mouth watering breakfast everything is beautifully presented and served with a smile. The wonderful Boo, the family's dog, even provided lots of affection whenever we were fortunate enough to encounter her! At night it is so quiet and peaceful and we both have had such a good sleep in the comfy bed. I cannot overstate how much we've enjoyed our experience here. This place is an absolute jewel and we will certainly be back! I'd highly recommend it for a...
