Avoid unless you are happy with bare bones (and broken) facilities, ageing decor and poor service. Check-in was awful. Booked 2 rooms in a single transaction via booking.com, paid in full up front. Reception argued 2nd room wasn’t paid. I showed her my email confirmation, app screen and even downloaded an invoice proving both rooms paid. She spent a long time staring at her computer and repeatedly telling me only 1 room was paid. After 15 minutes my toddler was getting fed up and I asked for the 1st room key so we could sit down and I could call booking.com. Booking.com told me they could see on there system what the receptionist was doing wrong and they would call her to clear it up. Few minutes later the 2nd room key was brought to us with an excuse that it was a glitch with booking.com (not sure who to believe here). So much time was spent telling me I hadn’t paid that the breakfast offer wasn’t explained. The next morning I couldn’t find any breakfast other than mugs and tea/coffee in the communal area alongside the microwaves. We decided to check out early and go for breakfast down the road at Harvester. Facilities were bare bones, the room was clean and had a kettle and tea/coffee supplies. There were plenty of towels but we had to ask for more pillows as only 1 per guest was provided. The rooms were visibly clean but the facilities are well aged. Towel rails for example warn you they will be hot, but in 1 of our rooms it was a normal rail about to fall off the room and in the other room it had a warning tag that it was disconnected “for our safety”. The floor in one of the bathrooms was spongy and felt like it was ready to give way. Absolutely appalling Wifi speeds - thank god its in a good 4G area. Good enough for a one night economy stay at £50 a night. Could have gained a star with better customer service and not arguing with a guest when there is clear evidence they were wrong.

Terrible Experience – Avoid This Place I was traveling from London to Edinburgh with a driver who couldn’t continue driving overnight, so I booked 3 rooms at Redwings Lodge Dunstable to rest. Unfortunately, due to a mistake, the reservation was made for 20–21 August instead of 13–14 August, which is when we actually arrived at the hotel around 10 PM on the 13th. When we got there, the staff told us there were no available rooms and offered no help whatsoever — neither from the hotel nor Booking.com. I then asked if we could move our booking to December 2025, which was initially confirmed. However, later the hotel wanted to charg me again for the new reservation — effectively making me pay twice for a stay I never got to use. It felt like they just took my money without any consideration. To make things worse, walk-in prices at the hotel are around £40 per room, but I had already paid £74 per room for three rooms. That’s nearly double the standard rate for a booking they didn’t honor or fairly reschedule. This was a frustrating, disappointing, and costly experience. The management came across as greedy and inflexible, with zero understanding of real human situations or basic customer service. Do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else. This is not a business that values people.

“This hotel was a complete disappointment! I booked 3 rooms and realized I had entered the wrong dates. I called the hotel directly within just 10 minutes to correct it, yet they refused, hiding behind their so-called ‘non-refundable’ policy. Later I was told through Booking.com that the change was approved, but then the hotel demanded a second payment for the new dates. In other words, they tried to charge me twice for the same service! On top of that, when I arrived at the hotel, I saw on the sign outside that the same rooms were being sold for £39, while I had paid £74 per night through Booking. Such a massive difference and lack of transparency clearly show how dishonest this business is. They took my money without providing the service, showing zero flexibility and no respect for customer satisfaction. This is nothing but a rip-off. Don’t waste your money here – I absolutely do not recommend this place.”

When I booked this hotel, the most recent reviews hadn’t been posted, and it therefore looked far better than it is. When we arrived, it looked dated and in need of a big refurbishment. On entry, things didn’t get better - the reception area was small and included tables that we were told were where breakfast was served. Breakfast in the reception area? No thanks.||When we got to our room, we noticed that some of the ‘window ties’ that stopped windows from opening too far were loose. We then found out that the door had no bolt in it. Whilst the lock ensured that nobody could enter, there was nothing to stop young children opening the door from the inside and wandering off - a big risk for us. On pointing this out, we were offered a different room. The problem with the door was the same in that one - and in two subsequent ones that were offered. Finally, a room was found which had a suitable bolt/lock in the door (although one of the locks on the window handles didn’t work properly). Taking this room meant that, instead of a double bed and two singles, we had only a double bed - I had to put the sofa cushion on the floor and sleep on that (the sofa also had an unrepaired tear in it).||In the morning, we had already decided that we wouldn’t have the breakfast that was included in the booking. As recent reviews have stated, breakfast was provided in the reception area, and from what we could see consisted of cereals and toast. |A very, very poor experience. The place needs to be completely...
