We arrived about 5:30pm after traveling over 2 hours to get there and were really looking forward to our stay after seeing all the reviews and pictures on Google, well we checked in and were told which way to go to find our pitch but we're not shown to it, we were not given any information as to where any of the facilities were or what the rules were on site such as was there a quiet time at night, what time were the facilities cleaned and therefore would they be unavailable to use for a short time, were you allowed fire pits etc and when we found our pitch it was very disappointing they had crammed 4 tents onto a small patch of grass which used to be 3 pitches and our guy ropes would have been overlapping with the tent next to us which is a fire hazzard, with very little space to sit outside the tent once we had also parked the car, the people already on the area were also very loud playing very loud music with no regard for others around them. We asked to move as the pitch was clearly too small for our 6 berth tent and after first saying no sorry we can't move you they did move us to a pitch opposite the original one next to what can only be described as a storage yard. See pictures attached (blue circle pitch next storage yard, pink area original pitch shown as 3 not 4 pitches), it's also the pitch where they used to keep chickens apparently so when we left early and took our tent down the groundsheet absolutely stunk. The Ground was also very unlevel on this pitch so not really suitable for tents tbh. I should also mention the constant road noise it sounds like you have parked next to a motorway it certainly isn't tranquil and peaceful as described on there website and some other reviews. The first Full day on site they decided to strim the grass along the storage area for over an hour which was not only extremely loud causing us to have to shout at each other in the tent to have a conversation but also covered our tent in wet grass, this could have been left till we were out or had left, the following day the owner was using the storage area right next to our tent as a garage to change exhausts on his focus ST cars so again no privacy or tranquility for us so we decided to venture out just to get away from the constant noise of the site, the day after the same person decided he would jet wash his cars so again more noise and no privacy on our pitch, the day after that we had had enough so packed up 3 days early, as we were packing up they had a skip delivered in the storage area right next to our tent so thank God we were not there today because what a racket that would have been. We never once had the owners come round to see if we were happy even when they saw us packing away early and other than the toilets being clean I can't think of anything good to say about the site, the showers were always cold, no hot water for washing up either, the shop is poorly stocked to. Such a disappointment, it actually ruined our holiday which we were really looking forward to after the past few months which have been extremely stressful for us as a family. The owners need to be more customer focused and work on their check in, explain to customers where they can find the facilities etc and show them to their pitch so if there is a problem you can deal with it there and then, also put a higher fence up round your storage area no one wants to be pitched next to that and add some more wild flowers and finally stock your shop with local produce. Such a shame we were so excited about this holiday but we will not be recommending or staying at...
Read moreOn our way home after a two night stay. We stayed in one of the glamping pods. The scenery was beautiful and a very quite peiceful atmosphere. When we arrived Tuesday our keys were left on the reception board outside and we found our pod number 1 ( the numbers were set out wrong tho and it looked like a 10 😂) We didn't see any staff or owners on the two days we stayed. We ventured to the bar around half five but it wasn't open so I assumed it would have times on reception like it says on the brochure you get but there was 0 information on the reception outside wall where it says information would be. The glamping pod itself was nice and cozy, apparently had underfloor heating which if I could have found it and put it on would have been lovely for the cold nights we had. The table pulls out into a double ( single and a slither more) with leather cushions for the mattress that you put together we added our own bedding on etc but honestly if you have bad backs like is after doing care work for so long don't do it to yourself. It's so uncomfy we both had to dose up on painkillers all day. But we enjoyed the peice and quite. And it's very clean etc so couldn't complain about the campsite. When we were leaving around 9.15 this morning after just wanting to get home after another bad sleep the reception is suppose to be open at 9 it wasn't so yet again no communication with staff or owners just leaving the key back where it was left for us.
Apparently you get a welcome pack... We never got one. I think next time we will stay in a caravan with a decent bed and some heating. We did get an electric heater but with how small the pod is we didn't feel safe falling asleep with it on so you wake up freezing but I guess that's...
Read moreGreat little site! Good location near a main road (but well shielded from it) with a five min drive to lots of amenities including a large supermarket and BRILLIANT pub/restaurant (The Bird In Hand). Clean shower/dishwashing/toilet block with a total of six nice hot showers available - we visited in November so had no wait for showers, but the site has dozens of pitches so this could be an issue at busier times. There's an on site bar that looks fab from the outside (although we went mid-week so couldn't see it in action) - kind of a barn/hoedown feel from what I could see. Owners very friendly and helpful, and access for cars is secure but very easy. We stayed in a glamping pod and this was warm and comfy even in November. The pods seem a little tired and there were little things that could easily be done to improve them - the TV didn't work when we arrived and i only realised on day two that this was because the aerial had been knocked/blown - got an a chair and straightened it and hey presto we got TV. A wall mirror, a few hooks, maybe a towel rail and a doormat inside (as well as out) would all be useful additions. Original power sockets have died and new ones added alongside, but the new ones are already tired and tatty. All little things - not sure why they aren't being sorted as they'd make a big difference. All in all though a great...
