We camped at the Robin Hood Inn one night of our walk of Hadrian's Wall (it's right on the wall trail). We happened to make really good walking speed that day, so arrived just in time for lunch. A walker we had passed a little earlier had recommended the roast pork & stuffing sandwich and Oh My Gosh am I glad they did. Absolutely lush sandwich, so moist and with a big pot of gravy for dipping... stunning. Later that evening had haddock (friends had a casserole of some kind, I forget now)... again was top-notch. Fried breakfast the next morning before setting off was very tasty too. Staff were lovely and accommodating, was delighted with the whole stay. One thing to say - we visited in late April and it was fairly quiet - apparently it gets - much - busier in the summer season. Booking highly recommended for both food and accommodation.

Stopped for Sunday lunch, hadn't booked it but managed to get a table. A very warm welcome and was shown to my table. My drink order was taken a little too quickly as I'd just sat down! I opted for the slow cooked shredded lamb and got loads of it. Accompanied with an array of veg, roast potatoes and a Yorkshire pudding, I also piled on extra roast parsnips (delicious but not needed). It arrived smothered in gravy, which I love but some may prefer a jug to pour themselves. The food arrived quickly on a warm plate and everything piping hot. A very enjoyable Sunday lunch but sadly no room for a dessert. Would recommend but also book to avoid disappointment.

Stayed overnight in our motorhome as a camper stop over. Enjoyed fantastic food and service with our evening meal and breakfast next morning. Beautiful prawn cocktail and pork belly bites, 10oz steak and lamb burger with sticky toffee pudding for dessert ! Lovely staff who had good knowledge of the local food and area . We loved it and will definitely call again when we are visiting this way.

The best place we stayed on Hadrian’s wall on numerous different counts: The room we were given (room 2) was dual aspect with more character than any other place we stayed and had a window I could sit in to read. The baggage transfer company that I used messed up and left our bags at our previous hotel; the staff at Robin Hood Inn were really helpful in assisting us with tracking them down when they had no obligation to. The dinner was great, waitress was lovely and the sticky toffee pudding was the best on Hadrian’s Wall — and believe me I tried them all! We wanted to pay our bill up front so asked the barman to add £100 for the room to our dinner bill. Received a knock on the room door about 30 minutes later when one of the staff realised we had paid twice because I forgot I set up my card details on Booking.com, so she was holding the card machine asking to refund us £100 there and then. Honest...

Well, since being the only real possibility for Hadrian's Wall Walkers in this area, they have some kind of monopoly status, and you feel this... It's very expensive (even though the food and the ales are good). It's 5 pounds for campers to take a shower (no, thanks!). There is no access to any facilities for campers between 22.30PM and 7.30AM! And most of all, the people who run this business are not really friendly, in fact they make you understand in every phrase or attitude that money is the only thing they are after..!!! (and that's rather sarcastic for a place that claims it name from someone like Robin Hood!) (again, I am not talking about the "underdog staff" like the cook who vas very kind like all the other people we could meet in Northern England) Sorry again, but your overall attitude left a bad taste in our mouth when we left in the morning... A shame! You could do so much...
