My wife, myself and our little dog Henry have just returned from a two day/night stay at the lovely 5* Rosemount Guest House in the beautiful village of Kippford on Scotland's Solway coast. Easily accessed from the M6 via the A711 or the more scenic A710, Rosemount is ideally located in the centre of the village and immediately overlooks the peaceful waterfront surrounded in every direction by stunning scenery. ||Firstly, I would have awarded Rosemount Guest House a sixth star in view of the absolutely fantastic experience of our stay. When we arrived, owners Alan and Louise were very welcoming indeed and made us feel immediately at home. We were given complimentary drinks and shown to our lovely accommodation in the extremely well appointed Annex of the Guest House where people who bring their furry friends can stay. Alan and Louise were very helpful indeed and knowledgeable about the area, the local history, the best places to visit and dine out in the evenings etc.. The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed walks both on the quiet beaches and in the ancient adjacent forest. The nearby olde-worlde village pub,The Anchor was a fantastic, easy going and friendly experience. Great food, drinks and atmosphere. ||Returning to Rosemount after a day/evening out was a delight. As you walked in from the cold crisp night air, we were greeted by a cosy sitting room warmed by a roaring wood burning stove. Our excellent hosts brought us complimentary drinks and were very interested in our adventures of the day. We eventually retired to our warm and equally cosy Annex for a thoroughly good night's sleep in a super-comfy king sized bed.||Last but not least to mention is the absolutely fantastic breakfasts which Alan and Louise prepared for us. There are lots of choices but we opted for the full Scottish breakfast and we took the opportunity of trying Haggis for the first time in our lives. It was delicious and we would recommend it. ||We have travelled a great deal and stayed at many Guest Houses and B&B style accommodation but we honestly place Rosemount Guest House right at the top of our 'favourites list' of places to return to at the earliest opportunity. ||Thank you so much Alan and Louise for making our stay so very special. ||We shall most definitely be returning...
Read moreJust back from a lovely relaxing weekend at Rosemount Guest House in Kippford. New owners, Louise & Alan, are wonderful hosts – friendly and welcoming but definitely not intrusive. We stayed, by request, in the annexe at the back which was homely and cosy – giving us our own space and solitude. Fabulous comfy bed – best night’s sleep for ages! Everything you’d want in a room was there, plus little extras like complimentary wine, DVDs, and fresh milk for those cuppas! The owners allow dogs in the annexe only (in consideration of other guests), and our dog was provided with a box of dog treats, dog toy and water bowl, so we were clearly very welcome. Breakfast was fabulous – the full Scottish Breakfast will keep you full all day! Good choice and well cooked. The friendly Anchor pub (next-door-but-one) also welcomes dogs and serves good food. We had our evening meals there and retired back to Rosemount with our books and sat in the guest lounge with another complimentary glass (or two!) of wine. We would definitely recommend this to everyone – we’ll be back! Thank you Lou & Al for...
Read moreHaving had many great stays at Rosemount over the years this one was slightly different but in a good way! We were the first ever guests for the new owners Louise & Alan who greeted us like old friends. We stayed in 'Screel' the Superior Double which has everything you could ever need and a fantastic view across the Estuary. The new owners have made some great changes - a downstairs sitting room is now open complete with log burner - a fantastic place to relax and read the newspapers provided each day. I can also report that the breakfast is still up to the amazing standard set previously. Some nice new touches have been added - bottles of wine and chocolates are available in the conservatory. Louise & Alan are great to chat with and are so enthusiastic about their...
