WARNING!!!!! NEW OWNERS ALL OLD REVIEWS IGNORE
We were excited to go after reading the website and reviews but as new owners which we weren't aware of things have changed and not the top end service and experience people described previously.
The welcome email lacked depth and information plus the FAQ on the website also wasn't very helpful.
When we arrived at check in time at 4pm no-one greeted us, no signs or information around the site. The car park was a mud pit and was about 500 metres to the sites which was very muddy and only wheel borrows provided. When we entered our tent wasn't set up or any greeting notes or information. The only information was from previous owners and no phone number or details on website to contact owners. It was cold and wet when we arrived and no wood or supplies to start a fire.
After an hour and half the owners found us no apology just plenty of excuses. We were given a small supply of firelights and wood which was poor quality and l had to make a 15-minute trip into town to get supplies in the dark.
The wood burner in our tent sugar loaf was faulty and made keeping a good fire difficult was very cold the first night and sadly we became run down. Because limited cooking facilities and one hot pan and wood burner not working had to get take away that night. On top of this limited cooking facilities there was no toaster and the outdoor bbq was an old school type with no gas. Furthermore you have to pay extra for the hot tub which is fine but was dirty when we entered which was disappointing. The tent was full of spiders so guessing hadn’t been sued a lot recently but l guess could cope that. The bathroom hot shower was the highlight as nice have this when very cold . The location is lovely but very windy and noisy from all farm crows around the area, limited views but nice to get away.
Id recommends to look around at others as the new owners need some tips and help on offering better service and...
Read moreWe stayed in Little Skirrid with amazing views over the welsh hills and nothing else in the way of the scenery. The safari tent was immaculately clean with everything you could wish for a comfortable and cosy stay. The shower is nicer than we have at home and it was amazing to have a proper plumbed in WC and china sink instead of traipsing to a toilet block. Inside there is a log burner, an electric heater and hot water bottles and also thick blankets so every effort to make sure we were kept warm during the colder nights. The bed was so comfortable with good quality duvet ( in fact there were two popped together), pillows and clean, crisp white sheets. We were pleased to see an air fryer had replaced the microwave. We had been meaning to buy an air fryer so this was our first experience of using one and we served up a couple of nice meals using it ( best cheese on toast ever). We have only ever used the electric hot tubs with bubbles and flashing lights and found the wood burning stove tin bath fabulous; no going back to the electric ones for us. And the firepit outside was another way of keeping warm ( and cooking food) Nice quiet site with immaculately kept pitches and litter free. Great little wheelbarrows provided to get your supplies from the car to the accommodation; be warned that Little Skirrid is the furthest away ( but we think with the best view) so be prepared for a little exercise going back and fore. Some nice local walks but no local pub or shop that we found on foot but nearest of both just 10 minutes drive. We...
Read moreWow! What a find! We had a fantastic 3 night stay in Sugar Loaf in Oct half term with 2 young children (one under 3). Highly recommend for families. We will be back!
Children loved it and we loved it. Beds super comfortable, log burner ample for heating needs and when work out the oven part of it, it is useful for cooking too. Toilet and separate shower room inside tent is a real bonus and hot tub v warm. Generous guest rules which meant we could have local friends come visit to join us for BBQ evening meal.
Communication re booking prior to stay & during stay excellent. Seven Hills team could not have been more helpful.
Location is great with plenty of things to do and see v close by at zero cost (we spent a day looking at local castles and a day hill walking). Excellent range of shops in Abergavenny for food / charcoal runs. DIY shop Bailey’s is the place to go for charcoal off season and all manner of other things like crates of pop.
Worth checking local rural cafes for midweek closed days if planning to eat out during time in area. Abergavenny has loads to offer though so will definitely find something there.
We have been recommending to all we have seen since return and friends booked to stay the weekend after our return for a romantic break and loved their stay in the smaller...
