UNBELIEVABLE. The lighthouse? No. The location? No. The night STARS. I stayed a night when unable to find accommodation, and it was the best night of my trip. It was the first and only time in my short 27 years that I've seen the milky way, the galaxy lit up in a white stripe surrounded by a sky littered with a truly ashtonishing amounts of stars. Light pollution must be little to none being so far out on the coast away from even the small villages. The most visually beautiful thing I've witnessed I can't wait to go back, I'd stay for days waiting for no cloud cover if needs be it's in an area with gorgeous beaches worthy of staying a few days. Staying on the car park was charged £5 for the night and their was a toilet facility. It's also a whale watching spot we seen a couple of visitors with binoculars. Also fishing boats go by at night, we had a flashing battle with a boat with a super bright blinding light while flashing him from the car,...

Excellent location to start a walk to the Old Man of Stoer. Take a few mins to check out the lighthouse then follow the sign to the Old Man of Stoer. We actually walked up the track first, as not boggy then cut over to the coast line after 1km.

Tip - follow the line of the cliff edge as close as you feel comfortable, as it's easier terrain.

Tip - walking shoes/boots needed and dress for a few degrees cooler than it is in the car park. The wind blows quite hard up on the cliffs.

There and back took us 2hrs. I if you go over the final headland to beyond the Old Man for better views, count on 3 hrs. We're moderate to...

A visit only not an overnight stay for us. It is a beautiful lighthouse, automated now of course. It is an obvious drive down single track roads to reach it. Large car park with a temp coffee trailer when we visited. A short walk up a fairly steep hill to the gate of the yard and you find it's closed. The property has been sub-divided into flats, which you can rent but at no point before the gate are you told it's closed to the public, hence the three stars. ☹️ Not sure it's worth the detour. On the way back we stopped off at CHOC-O-LATTE Cafe at a farmhouse for a homely mocha and hot chocolates plus some cakes....

As a family of four we had an absolutely amazing time here. The views are incredible and the lighthouse apartment itself is spotless and in fantastic condition, with a well appointed kitchen, comfortable beds, great bathroom and good heating. The kids loved the beaches and the sheep. I recommend you walk up to the geological marker on top of the hill - absolutely stunning views. Bring some waterproof boots though - it's peat bog and pretty muddy! This was our favourite place that we stayed in the UK, highly recommended.
