I didn’t actually stay here but I did pay my friends a visit who were staying, as I’m local in York. We stayed for a couple of hours but were following covid rules throughout as there was only myself and my friend who both live together in York with myself and my friend being tested daily for work . As we were to leave we were stopped by the owner, we aren’t too sure how long they’d been watching and we felt completely interrogated as though we were criminals. Had they of simply made sure we had used the track and trace and politely made my friends aware of the rules in regards to visitors all would have been well. We gave them the details they wanted but in hindsight didn’t need too as we’d already used the NHS track and trace facility within the property. In addition, my friend was questioned on their address which was out of order and had nothing to do with the owner as they preferred to give their home address instead to their University address as this is where she was heading back too. Following this was a series of sarcastic comments and rude remarks towards my friends as well as threats about unnecessary additional charges and I felt terrible leaving them there for the rest of there stay (they chose to leave early and go somewhere else). There was a comment on the lines of ‘once they get older’ they might learn something in reference to ‘common sense’. I can’t believe this is the way they spoke to their hard working and paying customers who made an honest mistake by not informing the owner we were stopping by for a couple of hours. This led me to be concerned for my friends privacy so please be careful if visiting the property as there might be some hidden cctv around the front where the not so private hot...
Read moreMade a last minute booking for three nights. We stayed in the Ash Tree Lodge, a two bedroomed lodge with a private hot tub (although storm whatever it was called meant that we didn’t use the hot tub sadly). |There was a lovely welcome pack awaiting us - high quality apple juice, crisps, Yorkshire tea bags, coffee, sugar, a beautiful loaf of bread from the local bakery and a pint of milk in the fridge. So many places seem to have stopped doing this but even just the teabags and milk mean you can make yourself a drink after a long journey if you’ve not thought about picking up provisions. |The lodge was so well equipped with quality furnishings. So much storage in the bedrooms and the kitchen, and essentials provided (liquid soap in the bathrooms, plenty of loo rolls, decent washing up liquid, even laundry capsules). |Our three nights flew by. Genuinely one of the best lodges we’ve stayed at in quite some time. We’ll definitely be...
Read moreFantastic cottage in a lovely rural location. Owner very friendly and a lovely welcome pack of milk, bread, local apple juice, biscuits and tea, coffee. Nightingale is very spacious, with upside down living and a hot tub on the verandah. Family loved using it as did we!! The bedrooms are spacious and can be made into 2 x twin rooms and king master. All ensuite, powerful showers and plenty of towels. TVs in all bedrooms too which was good. All in all 4 bathrooms so if you have 6 people, plenty of room. Loved the rural location; we saw hares, partridge, pheasants and turkeys. Lovely fields of wheat and barley too. Would totally recommend this location if visiting York, Whitby etc. Didn't disappoint us and would...
